All of Northwood can Smell the Sonae Pollution. This cannot go on.

Several local people have all contacted Kirkby Times to ask that this website publicise the fact that the smell from the Sonae Factory has been absolutely atrocious during the past few weeks. The smell reported is described as a 'woody chemical smell', this is likely a mixture of the wood dust and the many chemicals released from Sonae. The past Month has saw a fire at the Sonae Plant which is making the matter worse.Kirkby Times can confirm 100% the accuracy of these reports. On the 14th of Nov at 8.00am, the smell was so bad that everyone was remarking on it.

The smell is reported as being very noticeable of a morning. Many people are now forced to sleep with windows closed due to the pollution affecting locals. The local kids, already victim to asthma and other respitory diseases have been ultimately betrayed by our own Council. The consequence of the constant pollution form the Sonae Plant is inevitable. All thats in doubt is how long it will take for the effects to be noticeable. In the short term, the health effects are bad enough, with locals here blaming Sonae for the first short term illnesses already reported and documented by local GP's. Bad sinuses, Sore throats and runny noses, dizziness and being out of breath. Asthma and Bad Sinuses are, as anyone who has suffered them, bad enough. But Sonae, if left to get away with it, will lead to far more serious and damaging diseases for the people of Kirkby.

The Laws in the UK are anti Working Class. This is noticeable when you look at how Sonae actually came to use Kirkby as a Toxic Dumping Ground. The resdidential area of Northwood in particular comes second place to the 'big boys' on the Industrial estate. Despite the fact that we are polluted constantly and have the records to prove we are a high risk area for lung related and respitory disease, the Sonae Factory was eagerly welcomed by Knowsley Council. These people are anti democracy. Knowsley Council are a dictatorship, Sonae must have thought they'd hit gold when they met Keight and all the rest of the unscrupulous profit driven cronies who put the dirty deed together.

Sonae must be stopped. But to do so and ensure we never get scre*ed again, we need to ensure that Knowsley Council and the local Labour Party are are kicked out. Its time for the Labourites in Kirkby to decide between loyalty to Blair or Loyalty to the working class people of Kirkby and elsewhere in Knowsley.
