As you can see by the photo below, the Sonae Wood Dust Mountain is still on fire. The full sized original photo is also available for down-load.

The latest Sonae video can be viewed below,(click on the 'Sonae video' graphic) it shows the fire to be out of control with Sonae workers struggling to put it out. Seem raking up the wood dust mountain is just causing it to go worse, a bit like trying to put a coal fire out with a poker.

You can see on the full sized video a constant jet of water being spayed, with little effect, on the burning wood dust mountain. The run off from this is clearly affecting the nearby river whilst the fumes from this smoke are mixed with the usual toxic pollutants which are released 24/7.

This fire is further proof of the stupidity in allowing such a notorious firm of polluters to take up residence nearby to a residential area. The Working class community of Kirkby has been let down by its political leadership and if the Sonae experience proves one thing, it is that voting Labour is a stupid move for us Working Class people. We need political leaders or Community leaders with the guts to be Jailed if nessesary to prevent the toxic Polluters like Sonae. We should have just pulled the place down as it was being built. whether this is legal or not is a point, which to be frank, Kirkby times is not concerned with. Sometimes in life, the law is an obstacle. In fact, the history of social justice shows that sometimes breaking the law is the only moral choice.
