The recent smells
of burning wood are now frequently experienced in central Kirkby, Old Hall Estate
and Kirkby row. Northwood is in the thick of it. It is pointless expecting the
statutory Health Trust to give a completely impartial health assessment on the
impact the factory is having on peoples general health and respiratory systems.

The Knowsley Primary Care Trust was the only Health Trust to be allowed to merge with
the local council, therefore sacrificing its independence. The Trust is chaired by
Miss Rosemary Hawley, wife of the former Rector of Kirkby, who now lives in a large
house in the grounds of the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool, she is also a first
cousin of the Duke of Westminster, the richest man in England. She is hardly
likely to speak for the Kirkby people. This is the reason KATS has taken a low
profile, the Rev Jim Grenville might see his Church of England career derailed
if he upsets New Labour Knowsley and see's his SRB monies cut.
