Firstly - we publish an e-mail sent to Neil Turner sent by a Northwood man
who has done a lot of work to get answers regarding Sonae.
Thanks Joe for your perseverance - it looks like it's beginning to pay off.
Could one of you
please answer a question for me - would you consider it safe to bring a
young baby into the Northwood area and if the answer is yes would you
bring your children to live here knowing what you know about Sonae?
Would you think the dust that is showered over the area could be harmful to
such a small child's lungs?
I would like you to reply to this e-mail in your official capacity as
council officials.(Mr Wiratunge your input would also be of interest)
Also could you find time in your very busy life to reply to my last
e-mails because I am still being covered by the dust from the Sonae
and you appear to be doing nothing about it.
yours: still being dusted
Mr Dust - Northwood
Ed - Now the reply from Mr Neil Tuner, the Kirkby Times
'bringer of bad news' and the head of Knowsley Environmental Health.
Email off Neil Turner Knowsley Environmental Protection section
Mr 'Dust',
The Environmental Protection section has received several complaints
of dust from numerous locations around the Sonae factory over
the last 7 days and have been in the process of investigating these complaints.
I agree that there has been a dust problem associated with the Sonae plant.
Officers have witnessed dust levels which I regard as unacceptable.
Yesterday I was at the Sonae plant until late evening investigating this and other issues with the Chief Executive of the plant. A detailed inspection was being carried out this morning on the possible source of the dust and I am expecting further information, today, on how the dust emissions can be mitigated and over what timescale.
Once this information is available I will judge what action needs to be taken.

[Turner, Neil DHEH]
Ed - And another reply to Mr Tuner, who openly admits that the dust is causing
a problem, no offence Neil, but you don't live here mate - I could
smell this Sonae crap in Kirkby Town Centre and all over Northwood today
(Oct 18 2003) I smell it more often than not and am sick to death of it.
E-mail to Neil Turner......
In my last e-mail to you both I said I would look into whether my human
rights are being infringed upon, it would seen they are. Under part 2
the first protocol it states and I quote: "EVERY NATURAL OR LEGAL PERSON
IS ENTITLED TO THE PEACEFUL ENJOYMENT OF HIS POSSESIONS AND NO ONE
WILL BE DEPRIVED".
I NOW DEMAND YOU STOP THE SONAE FROM CONTAMINATING ME AND MY HOME
AND FAMILY AS IS YOUR LEGAL DUTY AS OFFICERS OF THE COUNCIL.
I have sent a copy of this e-mail to the editor of the Kirkby times
in the hope he will publish the above so every person in the Kirkby
area can now take action against the Sonae and Knowsley council for
the infringement of our human rights.
