Residents in Kirkby
have alerted Kirkby times regarding Rats being spotted in various areas of Northwood.
One of the main causes seems to be derelict flats which attract the rats,
the photograph below shows one such flat, abandoned instead of being
demolished as the nearby residents have requested.
Rats have also been spotted around Tower Blocks which are currently in a state of
disrepair which defies belief. Knowsley Housing Trust has been less than enthusiastic
in carrying out their promise of keeping up with repairs and maintenance. Now that
Rats have appeared, it is hardly a good sign for the Housing Trust who seem to be unable
to take onboard and put into practice the simple repairs and demolition program which
would solve the worse of our problems here in Kirkby.
Below, a Penisoners Flat rightfully demolished, but could it have been done quicker?
Northwood SRB funds have helped to pay for the demolition of one pensioner
flat on Westhead Ave which was a disgrace and had caused untold grief to
the neighbours living at either side. The demolition and subsequent work
on adjoining houses took months. The firm who got the contract could have
been a bit more sharpish, but it seems that certain contracts are carried
out at a snails pace. Who draws up these contracts? By right we should have control of the contracts and
seek out local firms who would be glad to get the job done sharpish, causing minimum fuss to neighbors who do not want to listen to months of heavy machinery being used.
Below,a pensioners flat which despite looking like a crack den from hell, was still being rented out by Knowsley Housing Trust.
Thousands were wasted repairing dozens of broken windows. Is this the quality housing the Trust brag about?
