Northwood House, The Local Gravy Train Rolls On!
Above, Northwood House, an Instant Community Organisation is born.
Another scheme dreamt up to tackle local issues or just another bunch of dodgy people, some not even from Kirkby
out to make a few quid masquerading as 'community organisations'.We ask why do people who don't live here are involved in ANY community organizations here.
There has been a lot of European money and various grants to be had in Kirkby,
most of us never see any of them but there are a few here who seem to be able to spot a subsidy
faster than a hungry farmer.
Pen Pushers and European Grants
Kirkby has a level of poverty which in turn attracts all sorts of madcap schemes usually dreamt
up by some middle class pen pusher who has no idea of what an area like Kirkby really needs. Unfortunately
the local political players keep quiet about the excessive amounts of money given away up here, because
they all have a vested interest. Millions have been wasted on trips abroad, residential courses, and a
hundred and one expenses payments plus grants and suchlike.
First in Line for all the Freebies
The most recent example of this is a scheme open to ALL residents of Northwood in Kirkby in which
free cable TV is to be introduced to all who apply for it. The deal is subsidized 100% and the first
anyone here knew of it was when certain persons working in the local Women's Community Action Group
and the Unemployed Center were first to have this free service installed!. Idiots dreamed up
the plan but no-one spoke out because no-one wants to rock the boat. It is insane to encourage
people to watch more TV and maybe its part of a wider plan to encourage apathy amongst the locals.
Loud Mouthed Left Wingers Quiet!
Kirkby has seen the loud-mouthed Left Wingers of the 80's turn into ' committee members' and
people who now 'want to work in partnership with the Government' etc. The rebels of yesteryear have
all been bought off and at a fairly cheap price. The Government needs these people to carry out the
various plans they have to privatise the world and Kirkby's so called socialists and left wingers
are in the midst of all of these moves. One example is the formation of Housing Co-Ops, which, nice
as they may be, were the first sneaky move to introduce private housing in towns like Kirkby. One
of the first Housing Co-Ops in Northwood was started by a notorious so called 'socialist',
somehow the anti privitisation principles put to one side on this one. The Housing Co-ops soon
stopped having weekly meetings once the Houses were built, and nowadays we have tenants all with
different landlords unlikely to organize themselves against rent increases etc. We recently saw a
vote up here, which privatised the council housing stock, and Kirkby's Left Wingers could not
even organize any opposition beyond one solitary poorly produced leaflet.
Such is the paranoia of Knowsley Council, they issued a leaflet themselves the next day
which sought to rubbish the points made. The Council spent hundreds of thousands
promoting the sell off as a very good deal but needn't have bothered given the level of
opposition. It is likely that the well paid jobs which will come along will have been
eyed up by Kirkby's 'socialists', we will be watching with interest there. A lot of the
people who fought against Thatcher had little to lose, but now those same people are
strangely quiet despite Blair's attacks on the working classes being far worse than
Thatcher's. We knew were we were with Thatcher. She hated us. We hated her.
A Town with no opposition
When a Town like Kirkby has no opposition to the Council and Government, we are living in
apathetic times indeed. The kids have no knowledge of politics and there are no real 'class warriors'
left, the kind of people who give the young a passion for changing the world and standing up to the
powers that be. All we have are a bunch of self serving committee members and its little wonder
that the local kids are more likely to have more respect for the local gangsters. All over the
Country we have the same scenario were opposition at a local level has been reduced to a few
individuals slogging it out against a local Council. Knowsley Council could not function without the support
of yesterdays rebels. The gravy train rolls on aided and abetted by the likes of the staff of the
local Women's Community 'Action' Group( had any more free drinks lately girls?) or the laughable 'socialists' of the
Unemployed Centre, who have well and truly had a good ride on whatever subsidised bandwagon was
passing by. Kirkby's Labour Party is so corrupt and incompetent that they actually had to
close down the profit spinning ' Labour Club' a Labour Party controlled and owned nightclub
and pub, which folded in the 80's whilst the Kirkby Tories (All 12 of them) still had a club here! Labour
have run Kirkby for over 30 years, all of the decent types have long left the party , all
that's left are a bunch of mercenaries. Its safe to say that Kirkby's Labour Party are a
standing joke, there's no respect for them, the odd councillor may get your gutters repaired
but they are all tow the liners and a councillor is always up for a ride on any all expenses
paid gravy train, more likely a plane!.
Things will change when Labour win.......
There are a lot of funds available for those who know how to fill in the right forms and who
know the right people. Most of the local people involved in the political scene here are in it now
for the money and a new generation of 'political ' or 'community activists' have come forward to ride
the gravy train and spit on the graves of those who actually struggled to fight for the common man and woman. There's a lot of water
passed under the bridge since Kirkby's 'socialists' celebrated Blair's election. You all said things
were 'going to change', and you were right. Kirkby's in a bigger mess than it ever was, but most of you
have got nice jobs, your own house and no opposition or indeed publicity to any of your activities.
You've had no opposition for years but now Kirkby
Times is going to bring 'open politics' to the internet. Enjoy.
