Would you rise for the Lord Mayor?

all rise for the lord mayor?, not likely!

The Mayor of Knowsley, councillor Friar of Prescott, must be taking this Mayor thing a bit too serious. At an award ceremony recently in Kirkby Civic Suite on the 21st Nov, the Mayors entrance was preceded by a request for the audience to rise! The audience made up of mostly local parents who were there to see their kids handed the awards and there was a lot of laughter from those gathered at this Royal like request to stand for some out of shape bloke in a chain. The Mayor came huffing and puffing looking visibly upset by the insolence shown by members of the audience, even many kids remained seated

The actual charade of having a Lord Mayor is a waste of taxpayers money and is another way to indoctrinate the young into believing the whole Class structure of society and giving credibility to stupid representatives like Mayors and then the titled people, the upper classes and the Royal's themselves. The Mayor is just a token gesture, he has no purpose or actual power here. He, like many other self imagined important political figures here in Knowsley likes to imagine that the fine ceremonies and rituals they attend place them in 'higher circles' than the rest of us. Asking the people of Kirkby to stand for a bloke in a big metal chain is proof of the Councils obsession with their own self importance, Truth is, most ordinary people in Kirkby see the Mayor as a Joke figure. Whilst he strode into the Kirkby Suite to the sniggers of school kids, the whole question of why we actually need a Mayor, though silenced by the majority of Councillors, must surely be given a chance in the near future to be debated.

Below, the Mayors entrance as Knowsley Council would no doubt like to see it!.........................

given a chance this would be the mayors entrance in Kirkby, a royal procession!
