Knowsley Housing Trust's Wall of Silence

Officially launched on the 15th July 2002 Knowsley Councils Housing stock was passed over to the new 'Trust' which is basically the same Council people working under a different banner. The promises made by the Trust prior to the actual vote was unbelievable. A flood of Glossy papers and leaflets ALL favoured the housing being privatised. Even a video was made, and distributed to all Council Tenants. Now though is the time to begin honouring those many many promises. John Mc Hale should hang his head in shame at the condition of some of the accomodsation his 'Trust' has on its books. If he lived in these slum conditions, bet your life we'd see action QUICK.

Below, These High Rise Flats Come with Air Conditioning (broken windows)

Kirkby Times has put together the biggest online Photo Gallery of bad housing conditions in the UK. What's disturbing is that this gallery was only centered around ONE block of hi rise flats! What's even more disturbing is that out of ALL the councillors in Knowsley who were given given a direct link to this online gallery in 3 mass e-mails, only 4 replied. Only 2 of them were from Kirkby. Still, it beats the days of writing and posting letters to these people. E-mailing them ALL costs a few pence but it has to be said that there is a great reluctance for Councillors to become involved in e-mail correspondence with their constituents. This will need to be addressed by the Council who boast about their high tech ways.

Below John Mc Hale the head of Knowsley Housing Trust. If he was on performance related pay, he'd be on £6 a week.

Kirkby Times Will be keeping a close eye on the Trusts activities. So far, the response from them has been appalling when requests have been made for repairs and maintenance. Communication with tenants now is now back to the usual. No-one knows nothing, not even our local Councillors. The deluge of glossy mags and leaflets have stopped now Knowsley Council have got what they wanted. We will reprint some of the articles in those papers, and look at how Kirkby's left winger's stayed silent as per usual. In Birmingham, the locals rejected the sell off of Council Housing. Knowsley Council lied when they made out that there was no other choice but to sell the housing off. 100 days after the sell off it appears that the Trust cannot even get their act together to carry out vital repairs, never mind fitting double glazing and new kitchens.
