Kirkby Times Forums (coming very soon!)

Jim Keight and John Mc Hale pictured, join kirkbys own forums, will any councillors join?

Kirkby Times will be running an online forum which will enable anyone who joins to post their own stories and news items. The Forums will be Vbulliten based and will cost Kirkby Times $180 for an exclusive licence to run the board. Members will have use of the forums to discuss Local News as it happens, the various forums will be entirely up to you. Local people will be asked to 'moderate'(police) the forums, any obvious libel or personal abuse is a no go. There will be an exclusive Kirkby Kids forums, where local kids can discuss whatever. This Forum will be moderated by local Women and will be exclusive to local Kids. Anyone wishing to moderate the forums is asked to contact Kirkby Times.

This is an online experiment to see if similar forums could be used at sometime in the future to not only gauge local opinion on local matters, but to enable people to directly participate in the democratic process of making decisions. Anti Social behaviour could be nipped in the bud if the forums for instance discussed a particulary bad area. We could also let teenagers tell US what they want the town to give them. Unlike the Community Forums which come round once in a blue moon, the Kirkby Times Forums will be there 24 hours a day 7 days a week for you to have your say.

Anyone can view the Public Forums, but to use the features and be able to reply, you will need to register. Once you Join you can post messages, start your own subjects and use the 'personal message' facility to send private messages to other members. We will have a Kirkby News Forum, a Kirkby reunited forum! plus whatever Forums you think can be used.

As stated elsewhere on this website, Kirkby Times is an independent Working class Website which is not funded. The purchase of Vbulliten was nessesary due to the fact that using cracked versions may well land us in hot water. Anyone who wishes to donate to the 'Kirkby Times Vbulliten Fund' can do so by contacting us here where arrangements can be made to pay direct into a bank Account. The cost of Vbulliten is $180. If any more than that amount is received then it will go toward building P.C.'s for local OAP's or disadvantaged kids. Kirkby Times will never be a commercial website, but it would be great if we could purchase enough server space to sell on at no profit so locals can build websites or have online ftp sites to store whatever files people may need access to. Any local Millionaires are welcome to donate!
