Firefighters Strike On: Good Luck to the Firefighters
Over 50,000 Firefighters across the UK will go on strike at 6pm tomorrow for 48 hours. This will be followed up with
a series of eight-day strikes between the end of November and Christmas Eve.Pickets will be out at every Merseyside fire station
from 6pm Wed the 13th Nov 2002. Kirkby Times would like to wish the Lads and Girls in Kirkby Fire Station in particular
all the best of luck in winning this dispute. the Fire Service has long been left out of the pay deals given to other 'professionals'
and if the likes of George Howarth our local MP can get 40%, the Firefighters up here have every right to what they are asking for.
Most people in Kirkby will support the strike but what's needed is for other workers and unions to join in and stand up to Blair and his cronies.
This could lead to a series of damaging strikes and walk-outs which would leave Blair no option but to concede the Fire Fighters demands.
Its about time the common man and the common woman of England were given back a little of the wealth being sat on or wasted and theived by the current crop of
university educated idiots who run Parliament.

Firefighters on Merseyside were quoted today(12th Nov 2002) saying "To Hell with an 8 day strike lets just go out"
The mood here and elsewhere across the country is as angry as it has been since the last strike in 1977 which saw
10,000 servicemen from the army, navy and air force stepping in as emergency cover using
Army fire engines, nicknamed green goddesses. The Strike will also be a nightmare for the Army who are intent on killing Iraqi Men women and kids for Blair and the Oil Barons and Arms dealers.
The Army cannot have 19'000 Soldiers on fire Duty and go to Iraq as an effective force.
The government has confirmed 19,000 soldiers would be required to staff stations, engines and fight fires. Any Soldiers from Merseyside should be ashamed at being used as Strike breakers by the Government.
