Where do the Children Play

Below, Jim 'Eco Terrorist' Keight, Leader of Knowsley Council........

jim keight digging up field. He says, bloody hell, look at all this green field, best get the bulldozers in!

The close proximity of playing fields is vital in an area like Kirkby where the levels of pollution are already dangerous. Knowsley Council seem to have a policy of selling off any spare patch of ground and seem to be able to do so without too much criticism.

Kirkby has sadly seen a great deal of its green areas lost to various building projects over the years. The very Town of Kirkby was once a farming community and the surrounding areas still are involved in agriculture. Farms are not green areas though and most if not all of the nearby farms are based on the standard 'chemical farming method' of dousing the crops in pesticides, fungicides and feeding them with chemicals which eventually contaminate the land and water supplies.

From Countryside to concrete

Before farms were built here the area was one, which must have been quite a pleasant area with woods, vales, and hills dotting the immediate landscape. It would be the sort of place you'd go to take in the sights and get some fresh air. Kirkby was Countryside and slowly it became the concrete jungle it is today. This process has got out of control and the residents of Kirkby are subject to all manner of chemical emissions from the nearby Industrial Estate plus a continuing piecemeal sell off of every spare bit of land that is available

Council Takes Prescott to Court to sell off fields!

The local Council plumbed new depths of disregard fro the local community recently when they actually took the Government to Court so they could sell off a local playing field to developers. Jim Keight the hated leader of Knowsley Council was adamant that the fields be sold and the usual half hearted objections by local New Labour Councillors were over-ridden by the Councils Hierarchy. Up here we have a system whereby 100% of the local community can object, even every local councillor, but a 'cabinet' of 11 nodding dogs and Jim Keight can confidently over-ride all of us and push through whatever plans they want!

Muppet Commitee's

This is local Democracy Kirkby style; a typical New Labour plan to move power into the hands of a few people who won't rock the boat whilst they wheel and deal using their contacts to give themselves, their family, their mates a pretty good advantage in making a buck from the local community. Keight and the rest of his muppet committee all consistently vote themselves a FAT pay rise, the likes of which we'd be laughed at if we ever asked our bosses for something similar. Luckily for Keight, the decision to pay him a fat rise was down to him and a few buddies. New Labour have soon gotten a taste for putting their noses in the trough but up here we've had Labourites/New Labourites running the show for donkeys years. It took the New Labour government 5 years to get a tarnished corrupt image; Knowsley Councils had a head start of some 30 years. There's no opposition to Labour here so they get away with murder.

No blade of grass is safe here

The kids here and indeed all of us are affected by the environment we live in, and the lack of a 'bit of nature' is detrimental to our wellbeing. When there's no playing field within a safe distance to your house, the kids tend to stay in or hang around on the street itself. When the local football fields are sold off, you get less kids picking up the interest to kick a ball around. The proximity of playing fields is very important in a built up densely populated area and in Kirkby we have seen not only official playing fields sold off, we also have a gradual decline of the small patches of land here and there which are often used by kids more than the actual designated playing fields.

Record Levels of Asthma and respitory disease

Its ok for Jim Keight who can afford a small place in the Country to scuttle off to once retired or hopefully sacked and subject to intense investigation. The Kids in Kirkby have less and less places to play on and its little surprise that the incidents of asthma and respitory illnesses are at record levels in this area. Most of us will live here for the rest of our lives and we have been sadly let down by a bunch of spineless local councilors who seem to be scared to even whisper any doubts about Jim Keight and the New Labour Mafia who control the destiny of Kirkby. Luckily Kirkby Times is not some wimp councillor and our message to Jim Keight is clear.

JIM KEIGHT - YOU ARE THE SNEAKIEST LINK- you rob playing fields from children, you are a nasty piece of work and 99.9% of the population think so. Kirkby and indeed Knowsley will be a better place the day this control freak and the rest of his sycophantic buddies get their long overdue come-uppance, we hope and pray its soon. We appeal for anyone with any info on Keight and the rest of the Council to get in touch. Its about time New Labour were sent packing up here, we need to move away from just voting for any fool with endorsement from Labour.New Labour are now the Tories in disguise. We need a change.

Thanks again to all the idiots of Kirkby's commitee's who seem to have sat back for the past 3 decades and longer whilst a bunch of cowboys buy the land in dubious deals which have seen Kirkby reduced to a Concrete Enclosure with patches of green here and there. What the hell do we do for the kids here? The Idiots who plan things have taken away all the nearby bits of land were kids could play.

Thanks too as well to the Church who have made a tidy profit in Kirkby selling off land. Maybe they worhip the God of Greed or the Patron Saint of lawyers (Satan) The Church are a JOKE. No offence to those who believe in God,but as usual in Society the worse of the bunch get to the top.
