Many of us are sick of the commercial crap which is churned out by the British Music Industry, little wonder many of Kirkby's Kids are into Rap, or the DJ'ing scene. Kirkby Times has Banned Boy Girl Bands from this website. Thanks, but no thanks.

Northwood's beurocrats and political lunatics have been embarrassing in their attempts to kid locals they are behind some 'community regeneration' up here. They have spent god knows how much so far in promoting allsorts of daft schemes and token gestures which fail to deal with or even address the real problems in Northwood. Little wonder when many are not from Kirkby. Those who are local, seem content to stay quiet and hold out their begging bowls for a piece of the financial action. No-one questions the moneys being spent because, to be frank, there's a lot of people here who would not want too much publicity or scrutiny. Corruption here is an issue so far not investigated. Kirkby Times will be looking at this in future, but many would say that corruption here is endemic. In a Town with no opposition, who the hell is looking? Millions have been handed out in Grants and the 'Social Regeneration Budget allocated to Northwood, is steadily being eaten away by a small army of pen pushers.

Boy Girl band to Save the Day?

The latest attempt to promote Northwood 'Social Regeneration Budget' funds and those who spend those funds, is the creation of a Pop Band, a Boy Girl called (wait for it) Northwood SRB, Sonic Rhythm Band! Kirkby Times will be writing to Dick Tracey the manager of Northwood House to get some figures on the money they have spent promoting themselves by all manner of glossy leaflets and newspapers plus novelty toys, mouse mats, pens, balloons and god knows what else given to kids in an attempt to promote a NEW organisation as the force which can affect local change. The manager, Dick Tracey, knows nothing about Kirkby and will swan off once the funds dry up. There's a number of people who follow the Euro Grants and SRB grants from town to town, like groupies.One of the Northwood SRB staff recently went to 'tame the mancunians at Willow Park' according to the Glossy magazine funded by the SRB money. The latest Mag includes 4 Photo's of the egotistical Dick Tracey, bought in despite local opposition to an out of towner being put in. Thanks for the Photo's Dick, we will have some fun with them.

Mc Cluskey'Quite Impressed'

Back to the 'Band'. The auditions were held in the Unemployed Center, allegedly 'more than 30 people turned up' Aged between 15 to 25, there were 5 chosen who then spent time with the famous Andy Mc Cluskey (who?), responsible for the dire Atomic Kitten. Mc Cluskey said he was 'quite impressed', and even 'pleasantly surprised' with the 'Band', er, real enthusiasm there eh! In just 3 weeks the 5 were able to dance together in time and even made a new single, called 'How can we be lovers?' Maybe a better title would have been "How can we be used to rip off a load of pre pubescent kids by marketing this crap?' The Music industry in the UK is currently obsessed with promoting Boy Girl bands because it seems kids are more likely to hassle mum and dad to buy the CD. That's why a 'safe option' was chosen, and not a Rap Band or Rock or something which actually has something more to say than the sugary predictable lyrics we'll be hearing from this lot.

Local Kids Pay For Guitar lessons!

Boy/ Girl bands suck. Your kids will forget all about em in a year (remember the spice girls?) the only point to these bands is to rob the kids blind as quick as possible before the bubble bursts, before they are caught out. Kids soon begin to mature in musical taste, and truth is a lot of the kids here love Rap and DJ'ing in particular. But Dick Tracey and the Northwood beaurocrats needed a nice safe band, even naming them to promote the SRB. (sneaky) A real band with real talent would find a way to gig. Many kids in Kirkby have to go to rehearsal rooms in Town at their own expense, local schoolkids have to pay for music lessons as it is not really covered in school. Spend the money on cheap rehearsal rooms and hire local musicians to give lessons and we will maybe have people who can actually play an instrument and can write their own material. Over to you Dick. *The Editor of this article is a Kirkby Musician, one of hundreds of talented older musicians who could be paid to teach kids here. Instead we let Knowsley Council organize things, and the money gets spent on crap as usual. Kirkby has many talented musicians despite the appalling lack of local resources. Making local kids pay for lessons in guitar is a bloody disgrace. Thanks, as ever, to the idiots and dimwits of Kirkby's myriad of committees.
