There has been part of a bike lane in Kirkby for a few years, recently the lane was added to and covers more distance but as our photo's will show, there has been little consideration into the safety aspect of this lane,we ask you to decide whether you would trust your kids to use this lane.

The bike lane crosses over the M57 motorway twice!, plus has many points where there is great danger crossing busy roads.

Knowsley Council seem unable to finish this project years after its conception and the initial work carried out. It is becoming increasingly difficult with the number of cars on the road to safely use them. Over in Europe, Holland in particular, bike lanes enable a greater percentage of the population to avoid using cars and public transport. Riding the bike lane in Kirkby is a nightmare experience if you have young kids in tow on bikes. Ideally this lane should extend to Liverpool City Center
