The sell off of land here has got so bad that as we have pointed out in another article, less than an acre is going for £200'000. Kirkby is turning into a concrete Jungle where houses are being squeezed into increasingly smaller areas. The motive is profit and it has to be said that the manner in which some of the new houses are being threw up is leading to problems fairly soon after people move in. Tenants in Houses in Westvale built by Liverpool Housing Trust had to endure Gas Fires falling off the wall, ceiling collapsing and a whole range of problems in houses which are practically new. The manner in which Houses are constructed today may be fast but you'll still hear every word of a neighbour's argument and odds are your kids will have to cross dangerous roads to play on what scraps of field are left.Ironically your home may well be built on playing fields. It is becoming a major problem in Kirkby whereby young kids are confined often to staying indoors instead of playing out. Kirkby's political leadership is appalling on these matters, it seems that the big construction companies like Wimpey's and many others, even the so called Housing Trusts have an influence on these matters which is beyond that of the locals. It seems the commercial interests of Companies like Wimpey are not even open to question by Kirby's locals. These Companies are a Law Unto Themselves and care NOTHING about the environmental damage they cause or the destruction on a local Community level.

A lot of Kirkby is land which was sold by one of the Earls of Sefton to Liverpool City Council. The Derby estate is massive and would take days to actually walk the length of, this Privately owned(some would say stolen)land is way bigger than Kirkby itself and it has to be said that there is every reason for the Earl to give up some of that land to us peasants in Kirkby, not to be built on, just as land we can access because we have none left. The Derby estate must be the prize we have our eyes on for the future. The land was only stolen by a bunch of baron robber's anyway,the claim to ALL that land by one man in the 21st century is a JOKE. The Earl represents one of the last sick links to the past when Lords and Earls etc ruled the peasants with a rod of iron and lived in luxury. They steal land they get knighthood's,our ancestors stole a loaf they got hung.

No news of the massive sell off of land has been mentioned in the local media, and as per usual the local Labourites and Left wingers seem to have let this one slip by.
