New Labours Shameful Seven year Legacy

Tony Blairs face broken up on a background of an abandoned tower block

As we approach the end of seven horrendous years of new labour, what has it meant to the low paid and unemployed ? Well Its official: Blairite Britain has given us worst levels of poverty than Thatcher's Tories.

A recent survey by the academically renowned Joseph Rowntree Trust shows six areas of Kirkby where half the children live in families receiving out of work means tested benefits. This shocking statistic includes Northwood, where its residents were told they would gain employment and opportunity from a £35 million pound grant. The money has been spent , with nothing to show, and yet nobody is held accountable.

Urban ghettoes of acute deprivation

In the other areas of Southdene, Tower Hill, and Westvale hundreds are said to be trapped "in urban ghettoes of acute deprivation" which is a damning indictment of new labour rule. Amidst widespread condemnation of this new labour in Knowsley are predictably keeping a low profile. The MPs comments ?

We say put this on huge a banner and hang it from the Kirkby Council buildings

Knowsley Council banner altered to read 'less is more'

The foolish new labour leader of Knowsley Council R. Round in the Echo 13/12 2004, says "we have the lowest unemployment in 30 years " Is this man real ? With 20,000 youngsters in families in his area officially living on the breadline, and he comes out with this ! Opposition Councillors ( if there are any ) should demand this mans resignation forthwith.

A further unwelcome Christmas present from new labour tells us that the official homeless figures have risen by 150% since they came to power. The poorest and most vulnerable members of society have been totally abandoned by a Government who blackmailed Councils to get rid of their housing stock, or face the loss of grants Those Knowsleyites who campaigned for this should be should be made to meet the homeless, and be ousted as Councillors .

Who now speaks for the poor and weak ? Its not new labour that's for sure

Meanwhile the gap between the rich and poor grows wider under new labour. The seldom seen MP for Kirkby will benefit from new big increases in MPs pensions, as well as trousering £166,000 in expenses, £58,000 in salary, and £16,000 off William Hill, the Bookie "for consultative advice"

These figures may well be higher of course with other benefits often hidden away deep in the parliamentary gravy train that will never see the light of day

That's nearly a quarter of a million pounds a year, for what ? A ban on fireworks ! Pass the sick bag Alice.

As well as creating a homeless crisis, new labour have plunged hundreds of thousands of future pensioners into poverty due to their annual £5 billion pound raid on your pension fund dividends, thus becoming the first Government to ever do this . Still someone had to pay the £7 billion pounds bill to wage an illegal war on Iraq.

New labour has put the working class back decades by its self greed and neglect of the most vulnerable.

Many face Christmas in poverty , or sleeping rough thanks to their polices, remember the working class will always overcomes adversity, despite the Thatcher's and Blair's

The big question is where are the Socialists in Kirkby ? Any sightings let us Know !
