One sentence from Ken Bigley summed it up when he said 'Mr Blair, I know I am
nothing to you' He may as well be speaking for most of us English, certainly the people
of Liverpool, who have felt like nothing since the Blair Government and other corrupt
British Governments tried to destroy our culture and that of other peoples.
If it were a member of Tony Blair's family being held hostage, the British government
would start to negotiate with terrorists.
If the Iraqis kill Ken, then to Blair they have killed no-one really. The Muslims
and Iraqis of Liverpool would feel betrayed by people who killed Ken in the name of Islam
or Freedom for Iraqi peoples. Muslims have lived in peace in Liverpool and the word
of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) will be tarnished if Ken were to die.
The people of Liverpool alone were amongst the first to accept Muslims here in
our fold. Protected by the honour of all Liverpool people, no people in England
perhaps been as oppressed themselves yet have stood more than us in Liverpool for
the rights of the oppressed. And now we asked the oppressed of Iraq and the Arab
Nations to do what our Government will not do. We ask for Mercy. We called for
the war on Iraqi people to be stopped. Children from schools demonstrated when
the illegal war was declared. They did so for the Iraqi people, to help them.
They care and WE care for your children and all your people.
William H Quilliam was a lawyer in Liverpool, he visited Morocco in 1887 and when
there he was attracted to Islam, and soon became a Muslim. One of the first Mosques in
the UK was founded by this Liverpool man. The Liverpool Mosque was accepted by the people
of Liverpool and William H Quilliam also founded the Muslim Institute. These institutes
and there descendents stand here now, testament to our solidarity.
Below, Liverpool man William H Quilliam who spread the word of Islam in 1890.
Muslims and Arabs and Iraqis may be surprised to hear that a
'western man', a man from the
great City Of Liverpool, once edited
'The Islamic World' which was circulated
in Liverpool and around England in the 1890's. This Liverpool man also
edited
'The Crescent', a weekly publication in which he wrote extensively
about Islam and Muslims. Liverpool people are not ignorant people, we know
the hurt of the Arab peoples.
This plea is one of many, I don't know who will read it but the opinions of Liverpool
people must be added to the WWW in the hope that this new battleground is one were our
words and our past as people of Liverpool may mean something to the people holding Ken.
