Self delusionary Councillors in Liverpool have delivered a cutting criticism
of the Fourth Grace fiasco that saw the whole scheme fail to get off the
drawing board. This has brought claims of an appalling lack of accountability
at the heart of the public sector.
The Liverpool Echo's editorial 7/12/04 thunders that the inquiry
into the Fourth Grace failure does not identify the culprits responsible.
The inquiry by the Councillors says they should be allowed to monitor any
future plans.
In a rare expression of support with the Liverpool Echo, doesn't
the report expose the hopelessness of the Councillors who are clearly culpable
themselves by allowing Sir David Henshaw to create quangos, and push them to
the sidelines. Like their counterparts in Knowsley, they allowed a public
servant like Henshaw to make them redundant.
However all is not lost. The Crown Prince of new the labours project,
Sir David Henshaw is back in town, sporting a splendid orange tan fresh from
his winter break in Mauritius.
Henshaw has breathtakingly told Radio Merseyside's Linda McDermott
"that he will take control of the agenda" So question to the Liverpool
Councillors: who is the boss?
If only the Echo would look at Knowsley with the same and the scandals
that put this type of problem in the shade. Land sold at rock bottom prices,
now worth multi millions. A toxic factory put next to a population with high
mortality rates from cancer and heart disease. £35 million quid for Northwood
disappearing down a black hole. Men with convictions of robbery and violence
holding high civic office in Knowsley, all with new labours full approval.
Those who complained are driven out of the labour party.
This really is the nightmare of new labour for Kirkby.
