A touching story appeared in last Fridays Echo about a family from Towerhill getting great
support from neighbours to raise funds to help their 14 year old daughter, who has a rare
illness. Government and Council red tape means they have to find £23, 000 to convert their
home. A thought, the scurrilous new labour dung heap Council have ingenious ways of awarding
loads of cash to their cronies, somehow avoiding red tape and regulations. Frank Clarke's
£175,000 from the Northwood SRB, and Cllr Edward Grannells £75,000 for a "furniture recycle
scheme" that vanished in weeks, along with the money, are prime examples.
Though what can you expect when figures released reveal Tower-Hill Cllr Ernie Parker,
last year drew £20, 673. 71p in expenses from the Council, this on top of his weekly state
pension of £79. 66p. His other sidekick, Crummy drew £11,751. 13p, While Mr & Mrs Keats
raked in a combined total of £34, 559.93, Mr Keats got £23,840. 91, his missus £10,719.We
hope the Kirkby people rally round, and support the family. And now realise why we say
new labour and its followers should be banished to the political scrap heap where they belong.
A Sick Stunt
Meanwhile in one of the sickest stunts ever pulled even by Knowsleys standards, readers of the
August edition of the Knowsley Challenge, page 26 saw a picture of the Mayor T
Quirke wearing dark glasses, and being led by a guide dog. This to promote
donations in support of guide dogs for the blind.
This is the same Cllr Quirke who along with other mouthy Huyton Councillors
subjected Cllr Brian Williams, from Kirkby, to regular verbal harassment when he
tried to read council reports or speak in committee on any issue.
What makes this sickening is that Brian Williams is himself registered blind, this
handicap counted for nothing when he was being verbally attacked and heckled by Quirke
and his chum Cllr McGlashen.
Both of these individuals were mentioned in the written complaint to the Labour Party by
Brian Williams, who later resigned.
Now hail well fellow Quirke displays hypocrisy on a grand scale to show himself in a good
light. This needs exposing to show what these people are really like.
As a footnote we invite Quirke and McGlashan to try and deny these abuses, letters are
still on file !
