The cutting below was passed to Kirkby Times, it was from the Liverpool Echo sometime
in August but the matter received little publicity and possibly was only
reported locally here and in Nottingham.
This website will be extra careful in reporting on such matters. As the website becomes
more widely read, the odds of families or friends or involved people reading articles is more
likely. The victims of such serious sexual crimes will obviously not be named and we
apologise in advance if any family of friends do come across this article. This is not
sensationalist reporting, but the accused has been named and so we also name him.
Though there was expected to be a plea by the accused, to my knowledge neither the Echo
nor Daily post or local radio stations have reported on what that plea was. Mujati
has pleaded guilty.
100 Words
We can only wonder what sort of City we are actually creating when the local media devotes
100 words to the matter then later chose not to report on the subsequent fact that the paedophile
rapist has already admitted his crime. God knows how many more victims may be out there, and
if the matter is not reported, then who will know that Mujati is, by his own admittance, a
paedophile rapist? His photo should be published so that the people of this Country can do
a quick check to see whether this person, who calls himself Mujati, has been near there
children. The police should actually have the details of all the serious sex offenders on
there websites. After all, maybe Marshall Mujati and others like him, may use other
names, and give other stories to different people regarding there background. People
who rape 3 yr olds cannot be trusted, full stop. Not ever. Letting these people out
of Jail is just part of the sick attitude that's running this Country down.
I challenge any reader of this website to make a case for ever letting this evil
degenerate out again.
What is more worrying is that the Liverpool Echo seems to be pressured by its own
painfully 'put upon' upbeat optimism, to avoid telling too much bad news, preferring
instead to devote pages of 'capital of culture 2008' news. Years ago, such a dreadful
crime and the subsequent arrest of a suspect, would have been a running news item,
one which the public would NEED to know about. Sadly, we have seen sexual attacks on
Merseyside build up to a worrying level.
No-one wants the papers to be full of doom and gloom, but do our feelings really
come into it when we need to know the full extent of what's going on to tackle things?
Are we wallowing in ignorance? Is ignorance of crime really bliss?
Kirkby Times believes that the local communities should know if serious sexual
offenders are living amongst them. Places like Knowsley and the worse parts of Liverpool
could be used as dumping grounds for sexual offenders.
Below is from Nottingham online
A Man aged 24 has admitted attempting to rape a three-year-old girl.
Marshall Mujati pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to attempting to rape
the child. He also admitted three offences of indecently assaulting her on Saturday
June 5 in Liverpool.
He had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and was meant to be in a Nottingham
hospital, but took a coach to Liverpool, the court heard.
Mujati was remanded in custody until September 28.
Questions
Why has the Liverpool Echo not chosen to inform the readers about his guilty plea?
How can someone 'sectioned' under the mental health act, simply hop on a coach
to Liverpool from Nottingham to commit a horrifying crime. Was he based here at some point?
Is this the first sexual offence Mujati committed?
Why are we not getting more 'background' information on 'Marshall Mujati'?
Where is he really from, and what was he doing here? Why was a recognised danger allowed
to just travel at will, is he another 'one who just slipped the net'? We need to know. So
do the people of Nottingham.
Life meaning Life.
We can only hope that the Judge gives him life meaning life. But if he is from
another Country, it's tempting to give him a week in Walton and deport him. He's already
admitted raping a 3 yr old, let's hope that we don't fall for any 'mentally ill' plea and
allow him to use that as some mitigating circumstance. Most mentally ill people would be
horrified if the public were led by the media to believe that the paedophiles are simply
mentally ill. We hope also that the media will report on this when the case resumes in
September.
When we all knew each other.
Years ago, local communities were safer because we all knew each other. It was
very difficult for strangers to settle in places without people keeping an eye on them.
In Kirkby today, many roads and streets will have people who have lived there for 30,
40 or 50 years or more. This settled community was in itself almost 'self policing' as
regards sexual attacks. When children were attacked, which was a rare event, the entire
community would be involved in trying to track down the offender. The community's
opinion of a persons character and nature was rarely wrong. As the gossip filters
itself, and opinions are either proven or dismissed, the community itself, if led by
principled people, was the best form of defence for its own social affairs. With
housing now privatised in Knowsley, it means that the community itself is being
broken up and this process will continue until we have streets were few people
know each other or really bother to get to know each other. When no-one really
knows there neighbours, that's when a community falls apart. That's when the rot begins.
As ever when reporting on local news, Kirkby times would like to offer our
sincerest and heartfelt sympathy to any of the family or friends of the girl
involved. Liverpool itself, every man woman and child, would follow Kirkby
Times in at least making public our sympathy and our absolute outrage at this crime.
