The wildflowers in Roughwood Woods looked nice for a while, but in recent
weeks the amount of rubbish there has meant that the place is looking less than nice.
The amount of rubbish there numbers hundreds of various discarded wrappers, the
inevitable Mc Donald's rubbish and sweet papers, soft drink and beer cans, cigarette
packets, crisp packets and much more besides. Kids have also been walking though the
wildflowers, trampling visible pathways and obviously ruining what they walk on.
It's a shame that some of the kids here can't grasp the importance of having a
bit of respect for places like the wildflower garden, most do, but perhaps the
problem is made worse by the fact there are few places for kids to hang around
in , or to 'sit off' in as the saying goes these days.
Knowsley Council - Trendsetters in Eco Vandalism.
The litter is visible in the photo above, it's a shame we can't have
a bit of respect for the few places here which are decent looking. This
seems to be a bad example set by Knowsley Council, who, by selling off
green fields and inviting environmental disasters like Sonae here, seem
to have as little respect for the environment as the kids ripping up the
wildflowers, or dumping stolen cars in the woods, or setting fire to
wheelie bins which they steal. The difference between the vandals and
Knowsley Council is that the vandals destroy things for the hell of it,
Knowsley Council do it for money.

Roughwood Woods - Whose responsibility is it to tidy it?
Roughwood Woods used to be the sole responsibility of Knowsley Council.
It was mowed and tided fairly often, and tree surgeons would attend to what
few tree's are left when branches maybe needed trimming. Nowadays, we have
private companies and charities moving in, this happened when the wildflower
garden was set up. It seems Knowsley Council believe they don't have to send
workers there on a regular basis now, and if this happens in other patches of
land - it could lead to Knowsley Council taking on less landscape and garden
workers. Kirkby Times warned that this could happen.
