We could do a stolen car news story almost everyday on this website, here's the latest one.
Policeman Punched by car thief?
A local policeman was reported to have allegedly been punched in the face after
a youth was pulled over in a stolen car. This incident was reported yesterday
(08 Sept) by a member of the community to Kirkby Times. Apparently a light blue
coloured car had been chased by the Police sometime after mid day, the helicopter
was definitely out around 1 or 2pm and a number of sirens could be heard as the
Police found themselves caught up in another dangerous chase. The schools are
back open now and when a stolen car is flying round Kirkby as School kids are
going to or leaving their schools, it is a recipe for disaster.
Stolen Car driven by 14 or 15yr old - what's new?
At 3.30 pm the same stolen car was spotted driving along Roughwood
Drive, right by the CCTV cameras. The car then was driven, very slowly, along
Scoter Road where someone reported the driver was aged about 14 or 15. There
were also a number of lads who were passengers.
Public Services Seriously Under-funded.
The Police are so hard up we saw SRB community funds being used to fund
mobile phones for them. Remember the Police are a public service. Although
the Chief Constable here has had a fair going over on this website - he is
intelligent enough to see that it's not just the Police who are under-funded.
All our Public Services are currently suffering as a direct result of Government
cuts. Many of the lads currently doing their best to become one man crime-waves
here in Kirkby could be stopped if the community had more funding and local
people were fully involved in the regeneration of our community. The UK Police
were used as Pawns as the Politicians destroyed the Country during the 70's
and 80's. The Country was robbed blind as we saw public services sold off
and services cut. Now the Police are victims of these vicious cuts in public
funding. We either fund Public Services across the Board or we will end up
with part of the police Force being trained even more as a force which
will be used in the event of social unrest. The Police's task is made
impossible as the gap between the rich and poor grows wider. The average
cop on the beat here must recognise that poor social conditions and
poverty are directly linked with high crime figures. When you see the
official crime figures for 2002/2003 - you will recognise that we are
having serious problems.
Violent crime up 59% - Sexual Offences - up 47% - Council Clueless.
Councillor Fred Fricker (the man who beat Jim Keight) recently put the question below
to Ronnie Round JP, the Council Leader, at a meeting of the Council held in the Council
Chamber, Municipal Buildings, Huyton, on Wednesday, 6th August 2003.
"Recently released figures from the Home Office show that between 2001/02 and 2002/03 in
Knowsley, violent crime against individuals was up 59.1%, sexual offences* recorded
were up 45.7%, burglaries up 11.2% and theft from vehicles was up 8.5%.
Would the Leader agree that these rises are a source of concern and despite the introduction
of Community Safety Officers and the Neighbourhood Warden schemes, prevention and tackling
crime will not be improved until we see an increase in the number of Police Officers on the
beat in the Knowsley Borough."
Ronnie 'Roundabout' Round, the Council Leader gave these answers, trying to
twist things to claim it was all really some positive news, check this out……..
The Council claim the public are having greater confidence in reporting crime
due to the work of the Council.
The Council claim there is an increase in the number of home owners
with home insurance requiring a crime number to make an insurance claim.
The Council claim there is 'effective partnership activities with the police
leading to eighty arrests for drug trading in 2002'.
The Council claim that 'the work of Youth First, the Divert
team and the Neighbourhood Wardens; and a change in the Police's
response to domestic violence' has led presumably to more people
reporting crime - that's why the figures are so high! Going on that
logic Knowsley Council seem to think that the more crime reported the
better they are doing there jobs!, er, its not quite like that in reality
though. This is CLASSIC spin-doctoring.
Public Servants = Punch bags
Ronnie Round and the third rate 'spin doctors' of Knowsley Council
are deluding themselves if they think violent crime is not on the increase.
If there was indeed a Policeman punched today, that just adds to the Fireman
punched a few days ago, maybe the Ambulance drivers might be next, I'd guess
they've already had it - we wouldn't know - we never get to see the figures
for a lot of crime.
The News no-one wants to read.
Sooner or later Kirkby Times will have the sickening unwanted task
of reporting the death of someone smashed by a stolen car travelling at
high speed. Then there will be a follow up story of how some little selfish
lowlife has got 18 months for killing a child or an OAP. It could be one of
the local cops dragged lifeless out of his or her car trying to stop our
children from doing this. No wonder cops are cynical, but were all heading
that way and it gets to the point where you just give up trying to change
things beyond your own front door or gate. That's what's happened in Kirkby.
It's like a cancer spreading across the UK. Maybe you can bolt your doors,
turn on your alarm and almost imagine things are ok whilst you watch
crime-watch on TV from the comfort of your armchair. 4 doors away
the junkies could be robbing your neighbour. Is this what we really
want? A community where none of give a s**t about what's going on a
few doors away?
Use the Kirkby Times Search engine
If you want to check out the stories on stolen cars on this website
- use the search engine by typing in 'stolen cars'. You can check any subject in
this manner - good luck - hope you're not getting too much stick here.
Smile, you're on digital camera!
Kirkby Times has already suggested the use of digital cameras in tackling
this anti social crime - we don't want to become a community of snoops and
spies - that's not our way - but we must move away from believing that
reporting anyone doing 100mph down a residential street is 'grassing'. A
lot of people here will likely turn a blind eye to a lorry load of washings
machines being nicked - but see the sense in stopping the local toe-rag making
off with our washing machines out of our houses and flats.
Coming soon - I was a teenage anti social lowlife - Reflections on
being a young scally in the 70's here in Kirkby.
(*
Is it surprising that sexual offences are going up when we have a Judge
in Scotland sentencing a father-of-three, James Taylor, who took pictures of
himself raping an 13 month old baby and received 5 years jail for doing so.
The UK is turning into a perverts paradise due to the fact a child is worth
little in the eyes of the law - had this man robbed a bank with a gun , he'd
have got 10 years minimum. Raping the bank manager's baby is a lesser offence
than robbing the bank manager according to the law. The Law is often an Ass
that needs kicking.)
