Kirkby Times
has received word that Football teams using St Kevin's have been notified that this
will be the last year they will be licensed to use the fields for football. This
means that the Council is determined to bulldoze through a very lucrative land
deal, a move which has been anticipated here for some time, despite the usual
objections. St Kevin's is the last major piece of green open space left in
Northwood. Kirkby Times has reported on the sale of Windy harbor, which
Liverpool FC knew they could make a reputed four million from. As soon
as the ink dried, the land worth One Million became worth several
million. Knowsley Council knew Liverpool FC would make a killing
selling land that they did not need for the Academy. They sold
this 'surplus land' to Henry Lloyd leisure for a reputed 4
million only months later.

Financial Rewards for selling us out
St Kevin's field has been subject to much controversy. Knowsley Council
not only ignored local peoples wishes, Jim Keight himself threatened to
take John Prescott to court so the Council could sell off the land to the
usual ever ready parade of contractors who have made a fortune up here,
getting bargain land deals. Corruption has almost certainly had a chance
to take root in Kirkby. There have been financial rewards for the Councilors
who supported the St Kevin's bid. Jim Keight had private meetings with certain
Councilors here who opposed the sell off.

A treacherous bunch
The Councilors who supported the St Kevin's sell off, are a treacherous bunch.
People in Kirkby are sick to the back teeth with a certain section of the
Councilors here who seem to see local politics as just another career.
However, so far we have little proof or carefully collated research which
indicates how well the Councilors who supported the St Kevin's sell off
actually done. Until now.

The Good
Firstly, we publish the names of the Kirkby Councilors who opposed the St Kevin's Sell Off.
Whilst Kirkby Times has criticised the Councilors here, credit needs to be given were
credit is due. The Good guys were….
T.L Rossiter, J Fisher, W Brennan, R Haplin, E Conner, M.A. Hagan, JP King, P.B Williams,
P Fisher and Jackie Harris (apologies to Jackie for only just adding
her name) (-Updated Sept 02 2003)
The Bad
The Kirkby Councilors who supported the St Kevin's Sell Off Proposals have done very
well from there support of the sell off. These Councilors should hang there
heads in shame, especially when they actually live here and know the shortage
of green spaces here. The Kirkby Councilors list of shame in the St Kevin's
voting sham is as follows……
Cherryfield Ward: Ms J.E. Aston, E Grannel
*, D Smith
Park Ward: R Crummie
*, D.M Lonergan MRICS, E Parker.
Whitefield Ward: Ms A.J Clarke, MRS D.J Keats
*, N.F Keats.
Also voting in favour of destroying our community was J Bennet.

The Ugly side of Kirkby's Political Circles.
The rewards for voting forward the St Kevin's Sell Off are clearly financial gain
and the new Labour Mafia in Kirkby is being exposed for cashing in and pushing
forward one of the most lucrative land deals the Council has ever seen here
in Kirkby. There are people who would do anything to push this deal through.
Jim Keight seems obsessed with the idea; the contractors are falling over
themselves to get their hands on St Kevin's. The moment the land is sold
off, who-ever buys it will make millions instantly. Just like the Windy
harbor land sell off, the Council ignore petitions, ignore local democracy
and ride roughshod over the future wellbeing of our children by reducing
Kirkby's fields to some sort of auction for Wimpy or any one of a hundred
big and small building firms.
The Smoking Gun Evidence!
Let's take a look at the figures for the Councilors expenses both before and
after the St Kevin's sell off. By comparing the figures of supporters against
opponents, an obvious pattern emerges. Knowsley Council is rewarding its 'Yes'
men and women.
