SRB Gravy train continues.

A gravy train pictured outside Northwood house heads off to Newcastle - a clow says - lets all go to newcastle

Kirkby Times has received a report which gives details of a recent SRB funded freebie in the form of a one day SRB related course in Newcastle. Apparently the course was to allow the people in different SRB funded areas to chew the fat on how things are going. The cost for this course/seminar was rumoured to be £109 per delegate. 12 delegates from Kirkby went along on this funded freebie. That's a cost of £1308 just for the price of the tickets to this one day SRB course! But there's more cost - they have to stay overnight!

But what about the travel, food and drink?

Of course the delegates couldn't just pile in a tranny van to come back that night - they were put up in a hotel! All 12 of them! which also means that someone's going to have to water and feed them. Staying the night in a Hotel you can imagine that maybe the 12 delegates never sat round all night discussing the SRB course and drinking Cocoa for the rest of the evening. Would they have perhaps headed over to the hotel bar? No-one would deny a man or woman a drink - but why should the people of Kirkby pay for it? These same organisations that go on these funded courses are later holding out the begging bowl telling us they are skint! Sending 12 people to Newcastle is a waste of money - if it's really necessary - one or two people could go along - and report back. The people who run these fancy stupid courses are making a fortune - a few hundred delegates at £109 a head is a great money earner!

The Republic Of Knowsley

This is just a small tiny example of the way in which SRB money here in Kirkby and especially Northwood, is being wasted en masse. The Kirkby Times will provide the people of Kirkby with the details of all who attended this latest freebie and funded 'jolly'. Though it may seem petty - we need to keep a careful watch on the purse-strings and if we can persuade local people to boycott these meaningless courses and outings - then we may actually have some money to give to our OAP's or the children. Too many people who already have money are getting the SRB money - that was NOT the purpose for which it was ever meant to be used. In Kirkby, many of us knew that giving millions to the Republic Of Knowsley, without accountability, was a recipe for disaster.

A waste of SRB money.

The people who attended the course are welcome to have their say but let's face it - most of us mugs in Kirkby would have to pay from our own pocket to have a nice visit to Newcastle. There is no need whatsoever for people from Kirkby to travel to a Hotel in Newcastle to see what's happening with SRB funds elsewhere. They can phone other SRB groups up if they need to know something - try emailing maybe - or a web conference. This money was a waste of SRB money and if anyone thinks that Kirkby has benefited from this trip - please email Kirkby Times explaining why the trip was essential and why the people of Kirkby should fund it and how we have benefited. No doubt the people who went on the trip enjoyed it - maybe next time they fancy an outing they may like to join the rest of Kirkby - and pay for it out of their own pockets. SRB money is being squandered like there's no tomorrow - it's possible this trip was arranged to make sure they spend all the funding allocated for the year. We are STILL waiting to actually see the accounts of the SRB money as well. Some very disturbing reports are coming into Kirkby times regarding SRB funded schemes and local people are SICK of seeing SRB grants going to those who have money. Every penny should be accounted for and people who threaten Kirkby Times, be they the Council or the recipients of SRB grants should realise that Kirkby Times is saying what the community is thinking.

Maybe we should be thankful the conference wasn't held in the German Town we are twinned with.
