Kirkby Times has been reporting on the recent gang wars between the schools here. The episode took a sinister twist today,
Friday 28th Feb when Police, based in Roughwood School for a number
of days, searched the premises and found a number of weapons including a
Machete, a hatchet, sticks with chains attached and ball bearing guns.
Kids carrying knives.
A member of staff who wishes to remain anonymous told Kirkby times that "kids
were openly discussing going to Brookfield School and using weapons on 'rival'
pupils from All Saints and Brookfield". Other reports state that some kids are
now beginning to carry knives; this is very worrying given the fact that some of
the kids would be prepared to use them. They need dealing with promptly, because
these kids are at an age whereby they are establishing life patterns of behavior.
They must be stopped, and we are failing our kids if the older people here cannot
get to grips with this problem. Local beaurocrats who reward the bad kids want
kicking themselves by these mobs.
Cops in the schools
Meanwhile in All Saints School, there was a Police Van and 3 Police
cars on duty today. In the past these gang fights always faded away
after a day or two, but, as stated, the level of violence nowadays is
such that these incidents are difficult to stop without major changes
taking place in Kirkby. Kirkby Times has been saying that Kirkby needs
drastic changes ever since it launched. No doubt Knowsley Council will
simply hope this problem goes away. The management overseeing 'youth
disorder' should be sacked en masse. If they had performance related
pay, they'd be on £2.53p a week.
Brookfield Vs Roughwood
Last night, Thursday 27th of February. There was another gang fight between
Brookfield school and Roughwood. Pupils phone each other up to co-ordinate
the fights, and this fight scheduled to take place in Tower Hill, reportedly
made its way to St Chad's where some 80 Roughwood Pupils fought approx 20 to
30 pupils from Brookfield.
Junior Schools as well!
Even the Junior Schools have had Police Warnings and visits. Teachers in Holy
Angels heard of a plan for pupils there to meet up and fight Millbrook School,
another junior school. Apparently the little kids wanted to mimic their older
peers, and the plans for this fight were made. Most kids seemingly agreeing to
do so until the teachers found out.
Dozens of parents keep kids indoors.
Some kids who have spoken to Kirkby times are pretty scared, they may try to
hide the fear, but a lot of kids now are scared to walk home from school
and dozens of kids are being kept in by parents who knew before the weapons
were discovered that it was a dangerous situation out on the streets of our
town. This is no exaggeration. There is a great fear a kid will be killed
soon, and Kirkby Times is warning the authorities that there needs to be an
immediate cash injection to fund more youth centers and facilities for
recreation. The ultimate cause of all this is varied. A lot of it's down
to a lack of social investment in the community.
