The far right Blair Government plan to privatise most of Britons road network by giving them over to private firms. In the very near future motorists will pay to use even local roads. No wonder ex loyalists like Wallasey MP, Angela Eagle now openly call Blair a Thatcherite.

Not to be outdone, new labours social laboratory in Knowsley Council are taking more extreme measures than their political masters. The Council are now making it impossible to drive down many of the roads in Kirkby without damaging your car.

The latest road to be turned into an obstacle course for the motorist is Bewley Drive in Southdene. In what must rank as a record, the Council have humped the entire length of Bewley Drive, with 7 sets of road humps, and 7 large ramps at its junctions with Bracknell, Cherryfield Drive, Morston, Leeside, Rockford, Shirdley, and Hartwood.

A total of 14 major obstructions that must hinder ambulances,( and those on board), the Police, and Fire crews on emergency call. Not to mention the untold damage to exhaust systems and car suspensions on the vehicles who use this road, or didn't authoritarian control freaks in the council think of this nightmare scenario?

It is understandable to have traffic calming near schools, but this is way over the top. Bewley Drive, with the exception of school times, is often quiet. Where were the Councillors to question the wisdom of these draconian measures ? or have they, like on other issues in Kirkby, took the vow of silence, with the Round shilling.

The Kirkby Times would like to know the views of Southdene Cllrs Aston, Smith, and Grannell on this matter.

Next year Kirkby people will their opportunity to hump these camp followers of Blair and new labour on to the political scrap heap, for constantly selling out the community in Kirkby.
