6 Stolen Cars, the problem gets worse!

kirkby celebrating boxing night

Kirkby Times has received a report concerning an incident on Boxing Night when up to 6 stolen cars took part in what is described as a 'Bumping Dodgems' type event were the stolen cars were smashed into each other outside Quarry Green shops, Northwood. Wasteland opposite had fences smashed down, our photos show some of that damage. Reports indicate that the Police were not quickly on the scene; this would not be surprising and other incidents on this website, plus local reports, show a less than enthusiastic response by the Police in incidents involving stolen cars.

Below, part of the actual damage caused by the cars

CCTV: Another sleeping Policeman?

The area is covered by one of the many CCTV cameras which can easily focus on the stolen cars. However, since the CCTV's went up, there has been little indication of any real success in preventing anti social behavior. Kirkby Times has already reported on the lack of success from other CCTV schemes in Kirkby and it is possible that if we were to see the figures regarding convictions bought about by CCTV in Kirkby, we would be shocked.

Below, CCTV didn't stop this damage........

Off the Beat

There are parts of Kirkby which the Police would sooner not patrol on foot. Any copper who got given a beat to walk in Kirkby would be wondering why he/she got the short straw. Coppers don't really go on a 'beat' anymore, not in the places were it matters most and at the times it matters most. But all the Police in the World will make no difference unless the Community itself has some future to offer its youth. The Police are overstretched, with a Mountain of unsolved crimes. There reliance on CCTV and surveillance has further estranged them from the community. They know our faces but they know nothing about the character of the people here. One old style policeman who knew the community is worth 1000 CCTV cameras.

Pink Jumpsuits a Solution?

car robber in pink suit

The Community should be the ultimate decision makers in sentencing anyone caught here. Likely as not the Police are just as fed up at the way in which they nick someone, only for them to be out the next day, doing 100 mph down Roughwood Drive. The Judges or magistrates seem to live in a World of their own, and even if the car robbers do go to jail, it's like sending them on a University Course to hone the finer points of thieving Cars. Maybe we should dress the 'recreational Car Robbers' up in Pink Jumpsuits and get them to clean the River Alt, whilst some may laugh, this approach, and other similar schemes, would make the car robbers and others think twice.

Below, the people doing this like to think they are 'cool' and 'one of the lads' but how cool would they look if they were up to their knees in the River Alt, wearing a Pink Jumpsuit?

Waiting for someone to Die

Kirkby Times has already stated that a death will be caused by the Stolen Cars or Motorbikes which race around the streets here. Then it will become an issue, one which may even make the Echo. Until we have a fatality, the media will carry on the usual tactic of hiding crime figures, covering up the crumbling justice system we have, trying desperately to give credibility to a system which is fast losing credibility.

Please email any reports of anti community crime to Kirkby Times.
