Police in Kirkby found the body of an elderly woman aged 80 in a flat in a tower block on Roughwood Drive. The body was discovered yesterday at approx mid day on Friday the 9th of May and Police have told the local media that the death is being treated as suspicious. The Echo has reported that the elderly woman who was vulnerable was found 'slumped by the front door'

The Tower Block involved was Oak tower, one of 4 tower blocks on Roughwood Drive. The problems in these Tower Blocks have been detailed here on Kirkby Times.

Until the Police release further news we can only hope and pray that the Woman, as yet un-named, but known to tenants, was not the victim of a murder. Several tenants have been questioned by the Police as to whether they have seen any suspicious activity. This article will be updated, hopefully as soon as the results of an autopsy establish the cause of death.
