An acre, which is a common measurement of land area, is equal to 43,560 square feet.
This equals about 91% of a football field.
1,200 sq foot is enough to build 5 semi detached houses - a while back there was an
advert selling land in Kirkby in Westvale for £200,000 for 1,200 sq foot. You can see
the clipping here. (scroll down the page once you link to it)
Something doesn't add up!
The price of £1M per 43,560 sq foot (an acre) in Knowsley seems to not quite be
the case in Kirkby. Liverpool FC paid a rumoured £3M (previous estimate was lower)for 56 Acres of land in Kirkby.
The Liverpool FC academy in Kirkby has a total of twelve pitches, four of which are
full size, but there's plenty more land, so much they sold off some and copped for 4
Million pounds after just forking out a rumoured £1M. Someone's not doing their sums
right - could Liverpool FC's land really be worth £56 Million pounds? Well, that's
actually beginning to look like a very conservative estimate. Going on the price of
land in Westvale - Liverpool FC could be sitting on a Kirkby Land Asset worth way
over £100,000,000 in a very short space of time. If this is so - Liverpool FC have
been gifted the land bargain of the century to the detriment of the people of
Kirkby for generations to come. David Henshaw should have been blacklisted by
Councils - not taken on by the Idiots of Liverpool City Council. David Henshaw
has made a massive mistake - and the fools who fell into his scheme, our local
Councillors who stood by watching bemused, are idiots too.
The Scandal of the Northwood SRB £178, 000 Award to Granada.
There is plenty of unused land which is part of the Academy, part of which was
promised to be set aside for a media/technical training facility of sorts for locals.
(this story has long been on the website) This was supposed to be part of some
'deal' Knowsley Council made - along with Liverpool FC and Granada. £178'000 was
apparently awarded out of Northwood SRB Funds to help Granada, yet nothing materialised.
The land meant to be for us, is right by Sonae. Liverpool FC of course doesn't want that
part, unless of course they can cash in and sell it one day. At £200,000 per 1,200 sq
foot - they'd be able to afford a decent team maybe.
Northwood SRB - No Updates - No news.
Question to the people running Northwood SRB - Where is the £178,000 now? Why
has there been NO update or attempt to inform local residents about this grave
matter of locals being promised facilities then denied them despite funding being allocated?
Where's the Money gone?
Seeing Liverpool FC , Granada and Knowsley Council and the SRB committee pretend
this promise was never made is a disgrace. Kirkby Times is simply asking the
SRB committee to actually explain why it is they chose to throw almost £180,000
at Granada (not to mention 7 Million for a railway) whilst most locals have to
volunteer their time, without being paid, to run much needed projects. People
in Northwood are for the most part completely unaware that we have had Millions
of pounds which were supposed to be meant for us. We've been kept in ignorance.
Thanks Liverpool FC for making a nice investment - you can sell us back
the land in 20 years at £1M per 100 foot maybe. When Sonae eventually poison
enough of us -they'll be off before the legal evidence mounts up. The land will
then be prime building land. What a great fantastic investment - Even someone
as useless at maths as myself can see this land was always going to attract a
high price band.
Kirkby's political dimwits
Cheers as ever to Kirkby's political dimwits in the Council for letting this
one happen. Our Councillors, especially in the Northwood area, could be chasing
this up but they've got so many things to chase it seems they've given up the ghost
and are still kidding themselves there's actually a political future in being part
of the corrupt and discredited New Labourite party here in Kirkby. All the decent
people ripped there Labour Party memberships up a while back, it's a Party headed
by the Middle Classes - Labour has nothing to do with the working class anymore.
The 'cunning plan'
To Knowsley Councillors - I would say this - take a look around at yourselves-
do you really think you represent the people? - do you really think there's anything
to be proud of in selling 56 acres of land for a pittance? - It's your call - but as
seen so far with the dodgy e-mails from Labour supporters - you are simply not clever
or articulate enough to explain away the discrepancies like the Academy sale - St
Kevin's being sold - Sonae - the Sonae railway - All Saints - School closures
etc etc. The list goes on and on. Read the website if you have a few days spare.
If any of our elected representatives care to inform us 'thicko's' out here of
your 'cunning plan' or whatever it is - please do - we'd be really interested
to know. Anyone out there who has a simple explanation of this great plan by
Knowsley Council please email.
The School of thought, Huyton Snobs and Labour Party investigations
Some say St Kev's school weren't up to much - but it taught us all one thing
- how to spot a bullshi**er. Politics is full of these people - and the labour party
has been gradually eaten away by the cancer of self serving individuals who are not
there to fight for the working class. Half these people are likely embarrassed to be
called working class, Jim Keight and the Huyton Snobs who pull the strings are
actually laughed at by the Middle Classes who use them, making dubious deals and
assuring them they are the 'clever' ones. They are either thick or there's something
in the deals for them. Keep your ear to the ground - Kirkby Times will never
specifically accuse anyone or any organisation of corruption without proof -
but given we've had Council members jailed in the past for corruption, and given
that Blair's Labour big wigs in London were going to investigate Knowsley Labour
Party at one point - it makes you think - doesn't it? - What's your thoughts on
this matter?
What do YOU think?
Keep asking questions - no matter how daft they seem - as pointed out
-our Councillors stay quiet, they pretend they know what's really going on, but
they've been suckered by people who know how to pull the strings. They are embarrassed
to ask questions. Furthermore they are scared to stand up to the people who plot and
plan the changes which seem to be to the detriment of the local community. The
Academy Sale proves beyond a shadow of doubt that we are being ripped off left
right and centre - our heritage destroyed so that our Chief Executive Stevie 15% Gallagher
can retire to some suburb a Millionaire and the already rich Liverpool PLC can be
gifted a land portfolio at a bargain rate. It's the equivalent of stealing land
off the Native American Indians for a few beads - they got compensated though -
the Working Class in the UK will get nothing unless we get off our ar**s and fight
back. Our councillors have basically sold us out to pay off the mortgage and for
their sad little 5 minutes of political fame. Thanks for nothing.
To Liverpool FC - thanks for nothing also. I paid your wages for years and made
the club great along with all the lads from Kirkby who have followed the Reds
everywhere. We gave you everything - now we find that our children will be facing
a housing crisis and that much needed land was sold off at a song. Stevie Heighway*
and Brian Hall* were two of the Reds involved in the initial discussions with the
community regarding this academy (they weren't behind the deal just front-men at
some stages) - maybe they'd like to explain just how better off the community is
knowing we've made Liverpool FC millions and got almost nothing in return?
Just like the communities in Liverpool were destroyed by breaking up families -
so will Kirkby eventually see a lot of heartache as we realise the extended
family based community, which has been part of our very culture, will gradually be broken up.
You will realise one day that what we had in Kirkby was special. We still have that
community spirit - were just struggling to rekindle it. I think we CAN
succeed and turn Kirkby round. This is OUR community at stake here.
Good luck.
*, Steve Heighway and Brian Hall are University graduates (with degrees in
Economics) and Stevie was signed for Liverpool at the age of 22. Brian Hall
was a team mate and played from 1968 to 1976. Stevie Heighway is the Director
of Youth Football. Not sure of Mr Halls exact job but he is on the Red payroll
and makes the raffle ticket draws at half time in Anfield.
Apologies for the lengthy article but locals will hopefully appreciate that
it's an important issue and one which need raising.
