In an act of revenge against Kirkby the old dictator of Knowsley ordered
its abolition as a town after the 1992 boundary review. Without telling
his fellow Councillors Kaiser Keight embarked on his one man crusade against Kirkby.
Ordered staff to tell companies on the Kirkby Industrial State that
they were now based in Knowsley ,and to drop Kirkby from their postal address.
Renamed the Industrial Estates from Kirkby to Knowsley.
Renamed the Kirkby Municipal buildings.
Took the main signs down from Kirkby Library.
Told schools to display the address of Knowsley instead of Kirkby ( look no further than All Saints Bewley Drive entrance)
Ordered minions to take down the Kirkby Boundary signs.
Put up overhead motorway signs that identify Kirkby as Knowsley.
Allowed Kirkby Magistrates Courts to Close. ( yet scream blue murder at
any suggestion to close Huyton Courts, on the grounds it would destroy the
Huyton shopping centre,) how's that for double standards!
Abolished funding for an independent newspaper for Kirkby.
Creating a news blackout on Kirkby. So the public are kept in the dark.
Abolished the renowned and much admired Kirkby Boys football Team
Look certain to consign Kirkby Baths & Kirkby Sports Centre to history.
Smashed to smithereens the many Kirkby based and run organisations,
that provided leadership to so many people when the town was run by
the loyal Kirkby Urban Council, before the nightmare of Keight was
inflicted on us in the 1990s.
Remember the Fresh Air?
Finally, many older residents will recall that the attractiveness of Kirkby from
the heavily polluted areas of Liverpool was the quality of the air in Kirkby.
This has even been taken from us by the council dumping the Sonae factory in
the middle of a large residential area, causing residents to keep windows closed
day and night. Keight has moved everything to Huyton, any chance of moving Sonae
over there Jim, then we might get something done!
Kirkby Times has been told that the former long serving
Cllr Fisher exposed many of these sinister moves and was witchunted
out of the Labour Party by the Huyton trio of Keight, O'Hara and Howarth.
We KNOW what you've been up to Mr Keight.
