News is emerging from the highly secretive Knowsley labour party that
ex leader Kaiser Jim Keight is on the comeback trail. It is reported
that he will contest the St Michael's ward in Huyton next June.
Jim Keight praised in Liverpool Echo
The opening salvo was made in the letters page of the Liverpool Echo 4/ 12/ 03
A writer from Huyton extols the virtues of Keight, saying she gets free bus passes,
free parking, and the lowest council tax on Merseyside thanks to Jim and his
chums. And also claims QVC in Kirkby is all down to Jim. In fact the letter
is so well informed on policies that you could be forgiven for thinking Mr Keight
wrote it himself!
And for the record council tax is too high in Knowsley, Sefton Council with double the
population of Knowsley has almost identical tax bands. Knowsleys should therefore
be at least 40% lower than Sefton. Pigs might fly!
Clearly the pro Knowsley council Liverpool Echo, had no qualms printing the
eulogy on their highest circulation day, Thursday, jobs night.
New Labour Sleaze
Whether he will resume his onslaught to sell off Kirkby and wipe it off
the map is unclear, he will however continue to victimise anyone who speak
up for the Kirkby community. Compare the treatment of some decent councillors
in Kirkby to that of some of his sidekicks in Huyton. Ex Cllr Preston, who
attacked and robbed a pensioner while he was asleep in bed, was given a 5 year
prison sentence. Keight perversely made him a Cabinet Member for
Community safety ( paying £12,000 per year). Another crony
M.Kearns gave a character reference to a convicted paedophile
before he was sent to prison, his reward ? Deputy in charge
of Education ! (paying £10,000. per year)
This new labour sleaze, and gutter politics is the reason the council
( probably illegally) has tried to ban the Kirkby Times. We aren't holding
our breath waiting for new labours response.
