Six Railway bosses have
appeared in Court charged with manslaughter after the Hatfield Rail disaster of
Oct 2002 which killed four passengers and injured 102.The UK Law generally NEVER
charges anyone running a business with manslaughter, the managers take the rewards
and fat payouts but never the blame, until now.
Here is a classic tale of good old UK managerial greed and incompetence and denial
of responsibility whilst sharing the rewards. It's happening everywhere costs can be
cut. Since the rail network was privatised we have seen several disasters and near
misses, the bottom line is that the managers running the rail network are motivated
by profits, worse still, they actually want to be managers without any responsibility
whatsoever . Under the UK law a manager or boss killing a worker can be slapped on
the wrist, those running vital services can often do harm to those using the service
- yet in the UK there is a tradition of management and directors being looked after
by the law. It could well happen in this case now before the Courts regarding the
Hatfield Rail Disaster.
The Hatfield Trial took place at St Albans Magistrates Court and the case was adjourned
to the St Albans Crown Court. Magistrates prevented the addresses of the accused from
being released to prevent them getting 'unwanted calls or letters' The magistrates
also warned that it would be 'some considerable time' before the actual trial was held.
Accused of manslaughter and Unlawful killing.

Railtrack safety director got Million pound pay-off!
Also charged under Health and Safety laws is former Railtrack safety director
Gerald
Corbett who is now a chairman for Woolworths. Always nice to know that these manager
types land on there feet despite having serious charges hanging over them. There was
a payoff given to former Railtrack chief Gerald Corbett which is listed at £444,000,
but a lucrative pension deal pushed him into the millionaire league when he was
ousted following the Hatfield train disaster. Why the hell was this man allowed
to profit when he failed completely in his task of ensuring safety. People die
and we make him a millionaire. Welcome to the United Kingdom of Injustice.
Hillsborough - The injustice they all forgot about
Here in Liverpool many who have long held the belief that the powers
that be are failing us need only look at the
Hillsborough Disaster to see
how the various management and directors simply walked away. We had a show
trial involving two of the top cops supposedly responsible for the safety
of the crowd, but many others simply walked away, untroubled by the law as
it stood then. The Hillsborough 96 were, many would argue, unlawfully killed
- it was certainly no accident and those responsible for the actual events
are no doubt safely retired, promoted or otherwise rewarded. Kirkby Times
hopes that this Hatfield Trial can result in the jailing of those involved
and maybe open up the way for the long line of similar cases to begin.
Once we begin to see the law being impartial we may have faith in it.
Before we have any faith in it, the Law books need to be rewritten as
the UK Law itself is simply an outdated class prejudiced form of security
for the rich and powerful.
