On the 18th November 2003, the Press Complaints Commission published a short,
and disturbing story on their website, www.pcc.org.uk ( past complaints). It ran as follows.
Complainant name: Peter Fisher
Paper: Liverpool Echo
Clauses noted: 1 (which is the denial of the right of reply)
Complaint: Mr Peter Fisher of Liverpool complained that an article had reported
unfounded allegations made about him by a Member of Parliament. He contended that
the newspaper should report the Governments decision not to hold an inquiry into
those allegations.
Resolution:
The matter was resolved when the newspapers managing editor met with the complainant
and a follow-up article was published.
The Echo article published on the 9/10/03, identified the MP as Mr E O'Hara Knowsley
South, and that the unfounded allegations he made were protected from the laws of
libel by Parliamentary privilege.
What Kirkby Times finds disturbing is what motivated a so called Labour MP to abuse his
powers to character assassinate an individual, who had no form of redress in law or the media.
And more worryingly can just shrug it off as all in a days work.
There is also the reasons why the Government refused to take any action over the "allegations"
made by the MP, which are now shown to be baseless. What have the Government and ex health
minister Alan Milburn got to hide ?
The Kirkby Times have made some contacts with individuals who worked with Fisher,
and claim O'Hara, who is a close pal of ex council leader Keight, set out to ruin Fisher
around the time the Knowsley Primary Care Trust was appointing its new Chairman, and
make his chances of appointment non existent. We have also been told the organisation
Fisher headed until O'Hara's hatchet job, received glowing praise when its services
were awarded 3 stars by the Government, after they went into the newly created Primary
Care Trust. Also revealed was the news that the Knowsley PCT Chair doesn't
live in the borough of Knowsley, but resides in one of Liverpool's exclusive
suburbs.
The Kirkby Times is determined to expose the gutter politics and smear
that is now rife in the extreme right wing faction that have seized
control of the former Labour Party, and also have most of the media
in their pocket. For Knowsley Council look no further than the Echo,
and the sycophants at Radio Merseyside, notably the well informed
Roger Phillips, who actually does paid work for the Council
More research into the smear MP, and what new labour are covering up is continuing.
Keep the info coming in.
