Kirkby Times has
been alerted as to the activities of various companies offering loans to locals at
extortionate rates of interest. Some of these companies are looking to offer
loans of several thousand pounds if you have property to use as collateral.
Some offer credit cards, even some well known high street banks are targeting
people in debt to 'clear outstanding debts' by, ironically, taking out loans
and getting into more debt. Other companies offer small cash loans and have
doorstep collections to make it 'easier' for those foolish enough to think it's
a good deal.
Provident Personal Credit, a cure for debt or a cause?
Many people victim to these companies, are vulnerable and find it hard to balance
finances. If the offer of a fast cash loan is offered, may will jump
at the chance, especially when some firms advertise the fact that they
aren't 'concerned about your past'. Provident personal Credit has been
targeting areas of Kirkby with glossy leaflets advertising their services.
The leaflet is reproduced here as evidence of this. The leaflet in question
was delivered to run down Tower Blocks, no doubt in an attempt to
try and attract people with little or no money to get into more debt.
Call it what they will, this is parasitical behavior and these companies
are interested only in depriving there 'clients' out of as much money as
they can get.

There is an alternative to these companies such as Provident. Kirkby
Credit Union has been established for many years now and offers the
best rates of interest you will see. You need to join the Credit Union
for 3 months before you can generally get a loan, then your saving record
and ability to repay will be considered before a loan is granted. The
Credit Unions in Kirkby are all insured and your money is as safe as it
would be if it were simply invested in a bank or building society. Unlike
a Bank or Building Society, the interest paid back on loans is extremely
low.
