Knowsley Council has decided that it's a good idea to award a 15% pay rise to its senior
council officers. 19 'senior' officers, including the Knowsley's chief executive Steve
Gallagher (featured on the dodgy money above), will have rises back-dated to the beginning of
this month (Aug 2003). They think there worth it - do you think a bunch of clowns in suits
are worth the money they demand? If the local drunk was in charge of running Kirkby he
could hardly have made a worse mess than the current bunch of greedy lowlife.
£135,513 for Gallagher - you greedy git!
The chief executive of Knowsley Council Steve Gallagher will see his salary band
rise to between £123,195 and £135,513! A new assistant director role will also be created
and he or she cashes in with a salary band from £56,700 to £63,000. Who do these people
think they are? Steve Gallagher is no more use than the cleaner who sweeps his office
of the mess he leaves. Many would value the cleaner more. After all. Gallagher's wage
amounts to more than the lifetimes earnings of a dozen cleaners. Gallagher is one
of the new breed of management who believe they are so much better than they
deserve ten times our pay. These people are parasites who contribute less to
Kirkby than the average Council sweeper in the townie. The bloke on duty in
the town centre toilets does a more worthwhile job than Gallagher or any of
the other Muppets currently messing up Kirkby. Many don't live here. They are
here to use us - to use our community and leech what they can. Gallagher isn't
worth 30K never mind 135 Grand!
Posh firm says Knowsley Councils overpaid Chiefs deserve more!
The council approved the rise to themselves on the recommendation of so called
'independent' consultants 'Veredus Executive Resourcing' who said that 'staff turnover
was too high and more needed to be done to attract 'high calibre' people to Knowsley.
'Why are Knowsley Council Using expensive firms like this to work out what pay rise
they deserve? Are they thick? Veredus was formerly known as the posh 'Price Cooper
Waterhouse' and the 'executive resourcing' they do is basically headhunting the
university educated nodding dogs in suits who fancy themselves as high paid executives.
Veredus even have a legal disclaimer on their website! Knowsley Council will have likely
wasted a good few thousand for this firm to write a report saying the Council management
deserve more.
The fat cat mentality
Unison spokesman for Knowsley, Roger Bannister had this to say in the Liverpool
Echo…….. "The fat cat mentality has entered Knowsley Council. The council consulted us
before voting in favour of the pay rise and we opposed the move. They said the rise
was needed to stop senior staff leaving but the real recruitment shortage is in social
workers. We have been asking the council for a four figure recruitment and retention
pay rise for these workers." Nice to see that vulnerable local people have to go on ever
longer waiting lists for vital help. Good luck to the local Unison branch - it is likely
they will be coming head to head with the idiots of Knowsley Council at some point
in the future.
Before he left Kirkby, Ex Knowsley Council Chief executive David Henshaw sold off
land worth maybe more than 10 million pounds to Liverpool FC as a parting gift to the
people of Kirkby. He is now looking at a pay deal which could take his pay, including
bonuses, to £173,154 by 2007! Remember, Liverpool has pensioners who are being thrown
out of care homes whilst leeches like Henshaw etc are looking at becoming Millionaires
for supposedly 'serving' the people. Henshaw - we have not forgotten you - you should
be investigated for your role in the sale of land to Liverpool FC. Why would you
sell land worth 10 million plus for one million? Anyone? Hello?
