Kirkby Times
has received an email informing us of another attack on a Bus Driver. The attack took
place on Friday the 10th of January at approx 10.30pm on Broad Lane and involved a GTL.
The person emailing described
the culprits as 'Yobs', Kirkby Times will add 'Lowlife' to the description and it
has to be said that our Bus drivers do a damn difficult job which has become downright
dangerous due to the lads and no doubt a few girls who think its cool to either
throw stones at buses or actually attack and rob the drivers. An unofficial source
from GTL has
confirmed that drivers are at the brink of pulling the Kirkby service
off. There was also another attack the next day and it seem that the Bus drivers have little
choice but to take the sad option of declaring Kirkby an official 'no go' area.
Appalling amount of attacks
Kirkby has seen an appalling amount of attacks on our Public Transport. A Taxi Driver
was viciously beaten on Broad Lane not so long back, (any arrests?)Other incidents of late
have shown Broad Lane to be a trouble spot but the problem can happen anywhere. It does
not help in the least when we have a lack of youth clubs and suchlike for the kids to
hang out in. Kirkby Times has documented the way in which the Council here made millions
through land sales yet contributed nothing back to the community.
Ever seen George Howarth in Broad Lane?
The people attacking buses should be named and shamed. We're all sick of these
idiots endangering our lives and despite there being numerous campaigns by the
police and bus companies; it seems that it's getting worse every year. Our
Councilors are out of touch. They should know the people hanging round,
and know their parents. Some do, but how many members of the New Labour
Party here would actually walk around the streets past the gangs? Or ride
the No 5 bus at half ten at night? The odds of actually seeing George Howarth
MP walking down Broad Lane are Zero.
This article was updated on 19th January as the initial report of the 10th Jan incident
was confirmed to be 100% factual. We will phone GTL tommorow, or possibly email them to ask
for an account of the incidents. Any Bus drivers are welcome to use Kirkby Times to report
on incidents which are usually covered up. Its amazing how our two local free
papers can actually ignore completely the tidal wave of anti community crime which is sweeping though Kirkby.
