Northwood House had an open day today, the 'VIP' who opened it was Billy Butler
a local Radio DJ not that many actually knew about it. The event could easily have
been publicised had the pen pushers there got on there feet and delivered leaflets
to houses nearby. One person told Kirkby Times that the event was 'poorly attended'
and 'no-one knew it was going to take place'. The management of Northwood House
would struggle to arrange the proverbial drinking session in a brewery.
Exclusive: Garden is actually used for once by kids.
Today was the first time that any kids had actually been spotted
playing in the garden, the shot above shows a hand-full of kids - the battery unfortunately
died before I could snap the huddle of pen pushers and beaurocrats who out-numbered the kids. The opportunity
to ask Mr Billy Butler how much of Kirkby's SRB money he managed to get hold of was
also lost. Apologies if he done it for free - but that is very unlikely. It is a disgrace that the SRB money
is being grabbed by people who are neither living in Northwood or in poverty. Billy Butler has
no right to this money - nor do half the people working there.
Billy Butler, Radio Merseyside and Heart Attacks
For most of us in Northwood, this 'community garden' is a waste of money, a
considerable sum was paid out, £14,000 to build what amounts to a few plastic kids
toys, a bit of grass, a few flowers and a couple of benches etc. No Doubt Billy Butler,
in his brief visit, did not dig too deep for answers, then again, Billy isn't a journalist
- he's a DJ - he won't let the facts spoil the chance to pat everyone on the back.
If he's getting paid for it, he will only praise the efforts of all involved.
Another DJ off Radio Merseyside, Roger Phillips was hired to present a video
which painted a rosy picture of the Council Housing being run by Knowsley
Housing Trust. This is dangerous as these DJ's then appear live on Radio
Merseyside and may present a biased opinion of whatever organisation has
hired them. Think about it. Is Billy Butler likely to bring up the fact
that spending £14,000 on this community garden was actually bad value
for money? We bet Billy Butler, known for his penny saving, would have a
heart attack had this garden been paid for out of his own pocket.
