Alexi Sayle has found himself in the firing line after allegedly making slurs regarding the Hillsborough disaster. The comedian apparently 'attacked his home City for being sentimental over the tragedy' according to the Liverpool Echo's front page.

Alexi Sayle's comments…..

The comments made by Alexi were as follows……

"The sentimentality on Liverpool is compounded by both Heysel and Hillsborough. Liverpool people are so sentimental."

The comments by themselves are barely in the territory of 'slurring' Hillsborough - even taken out of context as they seem to be - in fact, the REAL basis for attacking Alexi seems to be for his slurs regarding the capital of culture.

Capital of Bullsh**

The Echo's article seemed to highlight the capital of culture jibes - and we have the Capital of Culture Joker in the Pack Sir Bob Scott saying "I thought Alexi Sayle owed everything to the people of Liverpool" No Bob - its YOU and all the middle class money diggers who owe us everything. Remember also that the Echo let Juice FM off the hook despite Juice having used the SCUM for advertising. Alexi Sayle is a comedian - not a politician or social commentator. There have been far more damaging actions and statements said and done by the powers that be in Liverpool. After all, we all know the Labour Party betrayed the Hillsborough Families and our local Councillors here have done nothing but dodge the issue even as Families are perusing vital legal battles still. The Echo seems to be shy in criticising those who could really help the Hillsborough Families who are still fighting for Justice.

Trevor Hicks and 'cheap jibes'

Trevor Hicks is a bereaved Hillsborough father, but unreported by the Echo and other journalists, Trevor was prepared to sell out the Hillsborough Families with the Ultimate of Slurs by letting the SCUM (Sun) Newspaper do a deal with them in 1998. So when Trevor accuses Alexi of 'cheap jibes' and 'gross insensitivity' you have to say that it's actually worse than the kettle calling the pot black. Other families, less courted by the Echo, would never have compromised Hillsborough to such an appalling level.

Alexi Sayle - Come on Down!

As someone who would jump on the back of anyone who made blatant slurs against Hillsborough - I feel there has been maybe an over reaction to this incident. We only have 16 words which are offered as the proof of the Hillsborough slur - but it could easily have been taken out of context and it would be the decent thing to actually let Alexi Sayle speak out. Apparently Alexi's brother was at Hillsborough - lost for 5 hours till he phoned home. Kirkby Times will offer Alexi a chance to have his say on the issue. We also hope he will agree to do a benefit gig for the Hillsborough Justice Campaign - an organisation which incidentally has NO intention of making any deal with Murdoch and the scum gutter rags and southern journalistic filth.

Alexi's Capital of Culture Slurs

Kirkby Times has had a critical pop at the capital of culture. This website has stated that it is the capital of bull**it - and the fuss regarding this competition is ridiculous. Whilst we see schools shut down, hospitals closed and pensioners threw out of residential care homes, then it IS a capital of bullsh**. Alexi Sayle had this to say "Capital of Culture 2008? - well, I suppose it makes up for having none for so long" - is anyone really bothered by that comment? Let's face it - some parts of Liverpool are a dump. A story on the same page in the Echo mentioned the murder of a local woman plus a Police car being smashed up whilst parked up in Kirkby. Scousers can take the pi** out of scousers and each other - Alexi's a Scouser. Bob Scott isn't - nor are many involved in the Capital of Culture.

David Henshaw - Sold Land way below Market Value to Liverpool FC then ran!

The Capital of Culture is all about a few rich people moving in to get the funds - people like Bob Scott and Knowsley Councils devious David Henshaw who sold half of Kirkby's fields before he fled like a thief in the night to take up the position with Liverpool City Council. Henshaw's parting gift to Kirkby was selling land to Liverpool FC way below market value - he was a cancer to this Town. We have seen the middle class idiots who run Liverpool destroy our working class culture and our communities - they don't care as long as they have a CCTV protected safe haven in the City Centre. The capital of culture is for them - not for us. One lousy year of extra funding for the arts and the leaders of Liverpool are falling over themselves as if they've actually saved the local pensioners from being treated like sh**. Capital of Bull**it is about right. Parts of Liverpool are worse than a Dump.

Kirkby Times prediction: Alexi appeases the Kop by doing a benefit gig for the Hillsborough Justice Campaign - AND - giving an account of how he really feels about Hillsborough.

Note: Juice FM never really made amends - a half hearted apology was deemed suitable by the Echo - who have recently got back to doing nice articles on Juice FM. Will Alexi be forgiven so quickly? Let's hope he slags off Bob Scott and all the Muppets who whinge about the Capital of Culture slurs.
