Kirkby Times has
had a few requests through for more stories of growing up in Kirkby,
or memories of the past. Many people have moved on from Kirkby and made
lives elsewhere, but they still look back and remember the good times.
Kirkby Times isn't always pleasant reading, some of the subject matter
has to be that way, this website deals with the way things are, but,
lets not forget the good times.
Anyone is invited
to send in their stories or recollections of the past. Maybe you just
worked/studied here, or went chasing some girl here in the 60's! If you've got
a connection here, please write in with your memories of what things
were like. Good times or bad times, whether you laughed or cried,
these memories are precious to you and maybe others who read them.
All of us who have lived here, even those who may have visited and
got to know us, share a love for this Town and the people here.
If you're reading this website, you have access to a computer.
What you need to do is open up Microsoft word, or notepad,
and write down your memories of Kirkby. Write it from the
heart. That's the only advice. Anything goes, but bear in
mind any swear-words will be blanked out, that, and any blatantly
libelous comments will be censored. Any stories sent in will be
YOUR own copy-righted material. So if you send in a novel which
goes on to win some award, you won't find Kirkby Times looking
to claim any glory or claim 'we wrote it'.
If you know of any old folk or people who have great stories but cannot
type, then Kirkby Times is prepared to make an audio recording. Please
help make this History of Kirkby section one which will both educate
us and entertain us.
To start the ball rolling we have a few contributions from
people who have sent in their memories of Kirkby. If you have
any old photos of Kirkby which you can put into a digital format,
e-mail them in. All the latest memories of Kirkby will be added to
the bottom of the list below, simply click on them to read the story or recollections.
