The Hillsborough Justice Campaign is moving into new premises closer to Liverpool's football ground. The HJC had occupied the former premises in Oakfield Rd Anfield since 1998 but the place was literally falling apart. The move will be a blessing for the campaigns volunteers and members and also visitors to the new shop/office. The new shop/office is situated opposite the famous Albert pub on Walton Breck Rd. The opening date is planned for the 9th of August next month and it's hoped that Ricky Tomlinson will be there to open the shop. Hopefully, Kirkby Times will be able to report on the event.

Certain parties on Merseyside, including the Council, were hoping the Hillsborough Justice Campaign would simply melt away - whilst the campaign may have seemed quiet, the support has grown and fundraising has been going well. The move to a new shop is an indication that the campaign is dug in for the fight - support is coming in from all over the World and it's getting bigger.

Top Canadian Metal Band does the honours!

The latest band to support the HJC is 'Annihilator' (website here) - a West Canadian Metal band who are currently touring Europe, playing real music and wearing the HJC Justice t-shirts. The band has sold One Million records and Kirkby Times salutes them for taking the time out to add to the growing list of supporters in the music world. It's time for local bands here on Merseyside to stand up and be counted on the issue of Hillsborough - lets hope more young bands can be vocal on the matter - please contact the HJC if your in a band and would like to do a benefit gig or in any way publicise the campaign. Local actors and media types too can play a part - if fortune has smiled on you and you've got it fairly easy - try to balance it out and help the HJC. We can ALL play a part - no matter how small or insignificant it may seem - from kids giving out leaflets on match days or maybe that bloke in the pub who brings the subject up to remind people. Remember, the HJC relies entirely on donations to fund the campaign, and ALL the volunteers are unpaid. The Hillsborough Justice Campaign must be supported and Kirkby Times hopes you will at least take the time to look at the excellent HJC website where the issue is dealt with in more depth. This goes beyond what football team you support - it's about standing up for each other - for our class and our community.


Many people reading this may wonder why some bereaved families of the 96 and the survivors are still fighting on, this article here will enlighten you. It is important that a new generation are taught about the events of Hillsborough and the older generation reminded. The issue itself continues to gather momentum, with various families' pursuing legal cases and the survivors also involved in various legal moves. We can't just sit back and allow solicitors to be the only line of attack - this IS a fight, and the more people who come forward to support it - the more chance we have of finally getting to the truth about Hillsborough.
