There is Justice and there is Justice for The Victims of Hillsborough

There is Justice and there is Justice for The Victims of Hillsborough

When catastrophes or life crisis events cause many deaths, maiming or injuries and suffering for innocents and their relatives a civilised society seeks not retribution but a legal redress a trial of those who perpetrated an act or failed in a duty to care Following WWW 2 in the Nuremberg Trials all deaths and injuries were publicly weighed not for retribution but for guilt and sentencing and for answers as to learn for the future. No real deterrent came as a result of Nuremberg, human frailties and imperfections tossed up more catastrophes, but each act was met by more Trials and those who were guilty were at least held to some sort of account.

The Killing Fields of a Civilised Society

Those involved, the perpetrators, the high-ranking officials, the middle ranking and others were charged and where guilt was found and proved sentenced appropriately. If you subscribe to a civilised society you belong to a civil association one in which a contract is not written but is morally binding and when broken the same sense of betrayal as if a formal agreement is broken exists and the same desire for justice exists. The demands are the same for a due process of Law and a Legal Trial. At the Killing Field there are victims, there are injured and there were deaths. In order for civil association to exist, wrongs must be identified and dealt with if not then an uncivilised society exists.

No Judge, No Jury , No Trial, No Justice.

The killing field of Hillsborough, which took the lives of 96, maimed countless, left others scarred for life, and assaulted the senses of those who were there, transcended the civilised society and previous history of a Legal Trial. Inquiry Yes. Judgement by Judges? No. A trial with a Jury of Peers? No. A legal redress? No. There was No one who was to blame yet 96 innocents died.

Never Again

The Hillsborough Justice Campaign,(link) the Liverpool Fanzines and fan websites and forums and Kirkby Times (amongst others) have consistently written of the injustice, of the lack of both a political will and more crucially a Mass Media Campaign. Those of us who have continued the campaign are branded as hysterical and unforgiving whinging Scouse Fanatics. If this were true, even remotely true then the Holocaust and its terrible victims are thus branded too. The answer for the Holocaust is thankfully different; its victims even some 60 yrs. later have a political will and a mass media campaign to pursue the guilty to charge to be tried and to be sentenced.

Unravelling The Truth

Our recent article gave at least some hope of unravelling the aftermath of the way in which the Sun published its infamous pages of hate following the crushing deaths at Hillsborough. We have now researched 'Hansard' (Parliaments official record of business and the actual recording of what was said by the MPs). Hansard also records the Sub Committees words and decisions; word for word. It is their Bible. We have researched Hansard and found the Question and the reply from Mr. McKenzie Re the offensive article, in the Sun.

Radio Merseyside interview

The Sub Editor for the Sun recently pleaded innocence of and for the previous "Editors Error" in doing so he condemned those of us who continued as "unforgiving". During an interview with Roger Philips on radio Merseyside he reiterated the defence that he would not reveal the Suns source for the story, "it is confidential". Had there been a trial he would have been forced to reveal the culprit. But there was no Trial.

Fabs try to escape yet police push some back

A person rang in to the program to say that the Hansard of some 10 years or more had it all, it recorded the names and others who were involved: Kirby Times took up the challenge and the research.

"Blame the drunken Liverpool Fans".

The P.M. Thatcher and her Press Henchman, Ingrams visited on the Sunday the dreadful Killing Field. They met the Dec. Chief Sup. Duckenfield and the Conservative MP for Sheffield Hallam , the line for the Tory Press was "blame the drunken Liverpool Fans". The press toed the line and put the boot right in. The Express the Mail contained themselves to the line of the "hysterical and banal Scouse Myths", but the Sun reported images that belied any sense of decency or morality and would never stood up to any Forensic Investigation. Not that many current Journalists would anyway. Polly Toynbee, of the Guardian commenting on the "Gilligan" story doubted that any journalist would stand up to forensic examination. So much for the press printing truths.

Following the article, the Sun was torn from the news stands never to return to the Merseyside news stands. In fairness Kirby Times decided to investigate their plea of not wholly guilty. Was there a possible mitigation? The Hansard 'on line', hosted on the Internet, goes back some 5 years only; the previous years is in hard copy under HMSO. Docs. The search uncovered Bob Waring MP West Derby and Martin Flannerly MP. (Col. 605 21 April 1989 Hansard) who were enraged by the remarks made by the Hon. Member for Hallam (Sheffield) and demanded that he be summoned to the Chamber to explain .The Speaker interjected and announced that the Sec. Of State would be making an announcement that day. The Hon Sec Of State Mr Howard, duly appeared, and said that there would be an Inquiry. There was no statement in the House from the Member from Hallam.

Mr Kinnock the leader of the Labour Opposition had visited the Anfield Ground which was now opened to the thousands of Red and Blue relatives and friends. He had been asked to stand up in Parliament against the Sun, which he did. The paper was withdrawn. The tokens of despair mounted as never seen before. The World of Sport added to the mass of colour across the playing field.

McKenzies Regret?

It was some years later that a Sub Committee sat to investigate the Press and the impact on Individuals when privacy had been publicly destroyed by malicious stories. During the questioning of McKenzie the Suns Editor, the MP Joe Ashton, asked about the victims of Hillsborough, to which the answer was "that was not our fault. The Tory MP for Sheffield Hallam gave us the story. We checked it with the Police Duty Officer for the day and he said it was true, so we went with it. Now looking back I regret it"

Irvine Pannick: Star Witness for the Scouse Prosecution

The MP at the time for Sheffield Hallam was Conservative Irvine Pannick. Who today is rumoured to be a successful Sheffield businessman. We are not aware that this man has ever been asked about the story. We do not know if he has been asked to give evidence or to authenticate another who may have given him the story. Even if someone else had given him the story, that is no defence; the comments were made in his name and repeated by him. What we do know is Bob Waring M.P, in Hansard 21 April 1989 column 605 stated that the Hon Member for Sheffield Hallam did make those accusations. It is a fact. Has Mr Pannick ever been faced with charges of wilful and malicious slander or defamation of character and or the trauma and mental stress caused by the disgusting stigma? If not, why not? Has Mr Pannick been protected by the Sun all theses years as a confidential source? If the answer is that he was the source and has been protected then there is a case to answer and it surely cannot be out of time given that the Hansard has held the information all these years.

Chief Inspector Duckenfield

Now to Chief Inspector Duckenfield. The Suns Editor McKenzie says in Hansard that he consulted Duckenfield to authenticate, to verify the Pannick story (The MP for Sheffield Hallam). Here it is worth recording that The Taylor Report condemned Duckenfield outright for his abject failures and dereliction of duty to those 96 slaughtered innocents. The giving of the orders to open the 'Gates of Hell' which crushed to death some 40 Red Men and injured physically many more. The images and torments left those of us who there, scarred for life. Those who survived that dash for life in the tunnel, who survived death, were to be slandered and criminally "Fitted Up" by a corrupt Copper. His intention was to deflect the blame from the notorious Yorkshire Police. This criminal act was then compounded by the Investigating West Midlands Police, (themselves under suspension and being investigated) who Failed to notice that Duckenfield had committed a vicious and vindictive crime, one in which he had used his Rank and Authority as the Duty Officer of the day to give the go ahead to the Sun to print the lies which Duckenfield knew to be lies. There is the question, did West Midlands Police know and did Ingrams approve? Did in fact the Tory Press carry out their Leaders directive and in doing so therefore receive the approval of Murdock the Suns Owner?

Is it not inconceivable that a Headline of such slanderous content would necessarily have to be approved by the Owner Murdoch.?

who kiiled the 96

The above in no way removes or lessens or detracts from the Suns decision to publish the authenticated article. It in no way clears the Sun. It stands as guilty of a sick and violent act of retributive reporting Tory Led, Tory Fed, Tory authenticated. What the above does is to understand the vicious circle of events and personalities; The Prime Ministers visit, The Press Secretaries press briefing, The Suns Editor, The Sun's Owner. The Hansard shows the involvement of the Tory MP PANNICK. They all contributed to the pain and loss of the families of the 96 dead. They left Hundreds Injured and for these innocent victims, their nightmares are still resonating in flashback dreams and moods.

We are still researching the Hansard for more links and to those others who as yet have survived their involvement to blame the drunken Scousers. Now we have the references we will not be moved.

UPDATED: 25 Aug 2004 National Heritage Committee 21 Jan 1993

Mr Gorst to Mackensie (941)"Is there anything you yourself are regretting or shameful of ?

Mr Ashton Hillsborough?

Mr Mckenzie 'I regret Hillsborough. It was a fundamental mistake. The mistake was that I believed what a M.P. said, it was a Tory M.P. If he had not said it and the chief superintendent had not agreed with it we would never have run with it. So in fact my main regret was believing what a Tory M.P. said.'
