Territorial Army Off to Basra!
As reported by the Liverpool Echo recently (Mon May 3rd), local TA (Territorial Army)
Soldiers will be going off to Southern Iraq for a tour of duty. The reservists, many who joined
up for a 2 week holiday once a year on Army pay, have now found that there gamble by being
'reservists' has landed them a job which even the full time soldier is going to be worrying
over. New Labour seems to be slyly increasing numbers of troops sent to Iraq.
'Helping out' in Basra.
The Liverpool Echo reported on the 3rd May 2004 that the Kings and Cheshire
Regiment have sent over 34 TA Soldiers from Merseyside to 'help out' there colleagues in
Basra, no mention of joining in the search for the elusive 'weapons of mass destruction'
which we've still not found. The majority of the troops are 'riflemen' who will be carrying
rifles presumably and assisting in activities like arresting Iraqis, and patrolling the streets.
They will be over in Iraq for 7 months. If other regions are sending the same
number of TA reservists, then it's possible that the British Army is using
hundreds of reservists over in Iraq. As Spain pulls out, we send over more
volunteers to make Bush happy. It's ever so nice of Tony Blair to volunteer
the services of the TA for this war on the Iraqi people to rob their oil.
I think most of us by now can see that the reason for going over to Iraq
was not about liberating a Country or toppling dictators who torture
innocent Iraqis. We're all beginning to see pretty clearly just what
Americas plan is over there.
Army admits it running short of people to do the work!
Captain John Dainty admitted in the Echo that "the regular Army is short of
people so they are boosting the regiment with TA people". Sending the TA over in there
hundreds only proves that the Armed Forces is struggling. This move is a massive gamble
with the lives of the Reservists given that it comes only a few weeks before the so called
handing over of power to the Iraqis, and in the midst of raging controversy over the
deplorable behaviour of some of our troops over there, and the sickening way in which
the Yanks have made a mockery of the so called 'liberation'. It seems like the TA
are stepping into a situation which has already led hundreds of professional soldiers
to their graves, the British Army must be pretty much desperate if its going to use
TA people in combat zones. Most of us support bringing the troops back home just
like Spain, but were never asked on these matters are we? And they call us a
democracy! We could always send the British Army into Africa to stop ongoing
real genocides and slaughters against innocent people - but hold on - they've
got no Oil have they? That's why we watched 500,000 chopped into pieces in Rwanda.
Men of Honour
If soldiers are to be honourable, they must fight for honourable causes.
Fighting in the British army nowadays is a bit like being a mercenary on crap pay.
We see the Oil Companies and Private USA Corporations use the lads from Liverpool
and Manchester and Cheshire and all other regions to put down the poor and suppress
any opposition to the business which they have at hand. Tony Blair has led the British
Army into a World Wide Tour of American big business support in which we have bombed,
shot, tortured, jailed, killed and messed up the lives of a growing amount of people
from Yugoslavia, Somalia, Afghanistan and now Iraq. Check out the previous Countries
we fought in, all are in a complete utter mess and were half finished botched up jobs
which have managed to make the World a more dangerous place. The Billions spent on
this failed adventurism has cost the UK dearly. Sadly, it is likely to lead to the
deaths of young lads from Liverpool in this sham War on Terror. It has already led
to more Afghani skag hitting the streets of the UK. The lads in Iraq should be in
England rebuilding THIS Country.
