Palaces in Iraq
The Iraq War has given
us some idea of the hypocrisy of our own politicians. This can seen clearly in
the way in which we are reminded as to the 'opulence' to which those in the Iraqi
regime are accustomed to, then we contrast it to the poor conditions endured by the
ordinary people there. You could almost believe this War is about the inequality of
wealth, almost, but not quite.
In the 'Palace of Excess' with the Royal Marines
In the Daily Mirror, Tuesday April the 8th 2003 , we are treated to a double page spread
which is headlined "In the Palace of Excess", and features, ironically, UK troops
from the Royal Marines who take over Saddam's Palace. One of the Royal marines,
a 21 year old from Worksop, declared after entering the Palace "It was amazing when
I saw this place, it's totally surreal. I just can't believe this is the same Country,
it's paradise"
Below, Paradise in the from of a Gold plated soap bar dish, we bet there's plenty of them in the homes and palaces of the rich in the UK.

Below, Royal Marine raises gun and kicks down doors in the Palace, lets hope he carrys on the habit when he comes home.

Major wants to give Palace to Local people!
Meanwhile, a Major Moulton informed us in his upper class tones that "I don't
know what will happen to this place (The Basra Palace) now, I imagine we'll give
it back to the local people sooner or later" Is the major some sort of socialist?,
are we really going to rebuild the Palace and let the peasants live there?,
the Major actually goes on to say "It was built with their blood and their
money, so I would say it belongs to them" Nice one Major, you've just
justified the Class War. Thanks old chap.
Class System in the Army
The War shows us the Class system at play. Top Officers have the clipped tones
of the Oxford and Cambridge Old Boys network, and then we have the Middle Classes
in positions of less importance, yet still controlling. At the bottom of the pile
are the lads from the Council Estates, the Working Classes. Good old Cannon Fodder.
Even the soldiers know that much. The pay for a fresh faced squaddy, as stated by
the Army Careers website, is approx £213.29 per week. A fresh faced Officer would
get about £565.04.
Redistributing wealth, good idea.
The article regarding the Royal marines taking over this Palace
was written by Tom Newton Dunn. No-one can deny Saddam Hussein
lived in luxury compared to his own people. But, if were going
to now turn on regimes and people who live in luxury and opulence,
the it is maybe time that we addressed the situation here in the UK.
Here too we have Palaces which cost millions, and the people at the
top of our society live in great luxury whilst our own people, the
working class, can often die because of the lack of social provisions.
We hear Blair tell us that the wealth from Iraqi Oil will be distributed
to the people of Iraq, the same man has done the opposite in the UK,
and our wealth here is distributed to the few, just like in Iraq, and
even the USA.
Below, Tim Newton Dunn sits on the Palaces throne, not the only time a Journalist has been paid for producing sh*te we bet!

Corruption is international
We talk of the Baath Parties corruption, yet any local Labour Council in the UK
will have people attracted by the spoils of political gain. The Party Elite
in the UK are well fed and well looked after. The news reports show us British
Officers happy to allow the civilian population to loot the Party headquarters
and Government Buildings in Basra. They destroy statues and rip down posters of
Saddam. It's almost funny when you consider we jailed a man here in England for
smashing a statue of Margaret Thatcher.
The media and even our own Politicians gloat at the Squaddies marching through
the Palace. Bear in mind the same soldiers back home would be expected to
stand to attention outside Buckingham Palace and salute the same opulence
they are now destroying and mocking.
Ultimately, Saddam Hussein and every other leader, including Tony
Blair, deserve to see their seats of power eroded and the wealth of their
own Countries shared amongst the people. Heres hoping Major Moulton may help
us to take over the Palaces and Luxury Homes of the Rich here in the UK.
