And now, the election is near;
And I may face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, what Jim Keight told us.
I've lived a life that's full.
Black cabs down each and every highway;
But more, much more than this,
I paid no money.
Big debts, I've had a few;
But then again, the council helped me.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through with my expenses.
I planned each charted course;
Each single pub, along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it Keights way.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I took out more cash than I could use.
But through it all, when there was doubt
I filled the forms and took expenses out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it Keights way.
With Keight, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of boozing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find were all new labour losers.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it Keights way".
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not expenses, then he has naught.
To say the things new labour feels;
A wage a week, is all I seek.
The record shows , The Sonae blows -
I did it Keights way!
